what a tosser sounds like he caused most of the damage but if you look at the owners name ALAN SMITH yet another footballer and he is after a 360 now just proves what i have said in previous postings 355 360 footballers cars

    An interesting (and sobering) article....

I`d guess I`d better start saving for the repair bills now - I only paid 27k for my S and I reckon I`ve spent about 10p on it in maintenance in 2 years - and it keeps pace with 348s (!!)

But, alas, it isn`t one :(

I wouldn't worry too much about that article. As Mr Smith mentions, he's paid top dollar to keep the car in pristine condition, inc resprays every year. I also think he paid too much for the car to start with and the residuals between RHD-LHD cars got hammered once the Euro started making a recovery in 2001/2002.
I would suggest there's never been a better time to buy a 355 and you can insure and maintain it- depending on both age/condition of vehicle and your age- for £2.5 k a year.

Don't know if you will ever read this since it seem this post is a bit old. But I bought a 348ts about 3 years ago and although it is very much a fair weather second car, I haven't (touch wood) had any trouble with it. There does seem to be a bit of a downer on 348's for some reason, I never quite understood why and although I have never driven one a 355 is supposed to be a better car. Having said that I'm thinking of trading up soon and for £40 you will get an excellent 348 and change but not a lot of 355. Have you tried Specialist Cars in Knutsford my 348's previous owner had his serviced there all the time from new and I got them to inspect it before I bought it and do some outsanding work on it and they seemed really good. I can also reccomend MHT in Gloucestershire. If you are tempted by a LHD 355 I'd think very carefully, I bought a LHD 348 because at the time I couldn't afford a RHD one and whilst it is still a lovely car. LHD does make a difference when you are trying to have fun on a A/B road and overtake. If you want to know anymore about the 348 send me a mail and good luck. If I were you I'd either save up a bit more a go for the 355 or by a perfect 348 and save the change for servicing either way you will have fun... The again there is always a 328??

Dont listen to Simon355 about a LHD car, with 40K to spend you could easily secure a well maintained RHD 355 Berlinetta or GTS, some cars came equipped with the F1 Paddleshift but the manual is believed to be the more involving and more collectable.
I would highly reccomend purchasing your car from Ferrari specialist Nick Cartwright who is located in Derby so as you live in cheshire, Derby is not too far away, also you will need your car maintained well, Nick Cartwright has the knowledge and experience but i would also reccomend JMH Automotive who are located in Holmes Chapel, i would reccommend them as i worked there for 10 weeks to gain work experience (i am only 16 but my knowledge on Ferrari is very good) and also they dealt with many 355's whilst i was there and as far as i could work out, the customers were very happy with the service they recieved.
So with 40K to spend you will secure a mint 355, all i can say is have lots of fun!!!

I have got some links to Nick Cartwright cars which are to current 355's he has in stock, plus the final link is the JMH Automotive Ferrari specialist.
