    Hi,

I'm not a Ferrari owner but a major admirer. Last "cool" car I owned was a 93 NSX Comptech widebody etc. I've had the pleasure in attending Southern California's now defunct Crystal Cove and also the current meet at Ford/Mazda's design studios in Irvine, CA and must admit what a thrill that is to witness just to be amongst the country's most exotic and super exotics. The fact that event has taken place for so many years with little to no disturbances (until recently) is astonishing and truly inspirational.

I want to know if the Chicago crew has weekly gatherings with other automotive enthusiasts during our warmer months. I would love to see/meet/greet the locals. I understand there are organized gatherings every so often, some public and some at private residence but if anyone is interested in orchestrating a “Southern California style Crystal Cove” event on a Saturday or Sunday morning, I would be honored to volunteer. I might be able to leverage my industry peers and potentially assisting to some capacity on such events too.

    What are your thoughts?

    Welcome to FChat!

You have come to the right place to see what's what in Chicagoland. Timing is a bit off as people are preparing to put their cars away, but check in here come spring and you'll see a flurry of activities and events announced. Feel free to chime in, we can always use new ideas for new events. Stay tuned.

Actually, I still drive mine until it snows. So I am still looking for drives to happen.

Thank you. I will frequent here more and stay in tune with the local gatherings. If anyone wants to organize something a bit more frequent and formal/offical, contact me.

    Welcome to F-Chat.

I think Supercars Chicago meets every weekend. I'm not sure if they fall/winter meets since like what Andreas mentioned, people are putting their cars away. Carla should be able to answer your question when she chimes in.

    Cheers,

Weather permitting, we'll drive all year around. That's one of the benefits of having an AWD sports car! A drive to Starved Rock is in the works.

    Wow! Terrific shot!

What about more of a gathering than a cruise so the public can share in on these automobiles. Again, I'm thinking more in line of what southern California has with the defunct Crystal Cove.

It's hard to say for sure. I don't really plan things more than 1 week in advance. I put out feelers with my LCA members and a few exotic car owners and if there is a positive response to the event/drive, I go from there. Sometimes the group tends to hit 20 cars which is hard to manage depending on where we will be driving. The last trip to Long Grove had to be limited to 12 cars due to the pre-planned parking reservations arranged by the building commissioner of Long Grove for us to use the Hillagoss Art Galary Parking Lot. He had to block it off the night before because of the Apple Festival going on that weekend.
