Are you worried that the new Nissan GTR can go 1-60 3.5 sec or the upcoming Lexus "supercar" will impact on Ferrari's image or the market value of YOUR ferrari?

Those aren't competitors. That's like asking how much the ZO6 has impacted Ferrari sales. Not at all. Just because they have similar specs doesn't say anything about their fit and finish. What makes a Ferrari a Ferrari.

    NO.

    NO.

    And one more time NO.

All other "supercars" just come and go, only Ferrari stays strong for years. Best.

Yes, very worried. I didn't sleep a wink last night.

The new GTR will completely destroy resale values within the next few weeks. Exactly the same thing happened when the Honda (err Acura) NSX was released ... Ferrari values tanked worldwide. Same thing with the ZO6 -- local newspapers stopped taking classified ads because the Ferrari section got too full. Go back in history, and you'll see the accumulated effect of the damage done to the marque by the countless release of cars such as the 240Z, 350Z, Camaros, Mustangs, Supras, Evos, WRXs etc. Today, I'd be lucky to be able to get a Subway Spicy Italian in exchange for my F430 Spider; the ravaging of the resale value has been relentless.

Now, don't you have any homework to do ? (oh, and thanks for the laugh!) ;)

Pretty amazing really. The way performance is becoming more and more accessible is incredible. Soon Ferrari's and Lambo's claim to exclusive performance is going to be harder to maintain. They will have to offer something more than big price stickers to maintain exclusivity when a car like GTR is within the dreams of many of "regular" people.

Many of you might keep on blabbing about the Ferrari's passion and motoring history etc... but it will be fun to see a brand spanking new, stock GTR overtaking most Ferraris out there, on the track and on the street.

When the modding of the GTR starts (and it will as with the previous versions).. that thing looks to give a Veyron a run for its money! :)

Also keep in mind that most of the guys who can afford a new Ferrari don't have to make the choice among cool cars; they simply buy one of each. :)

    Here we go again...

Never in the past Ferraris were the absolutely fastest cars on market, there were always some Nissans,Mitsubishis,Vettes or even MBs that were way faster(or quicker).Obviously then that factor was,is and is not going to be the deciding factor when buying F car.
A GTR may compete with all the other performance cars, may steal some 997 sales (but not the 997TT which attracts a group of buyers seldom considering sub $100k alternative) and will not affect Ferrari sales one bit.

I agree with that completely its the whole ownership experience people love certain things about a particular car or make of car and there is no accounting for how that plays out I dont care what other cars can or cant do I love Ferraris period.

I even seriously doubt someone looking for a porsche 911 will get a gtr instead....Most 20 something fast and furious kids will buy it but I doubt a consultant, lawyer, doctor, executive or businessman who wants a porsche will buy a nissan instead...The Gtr is not a good looking car but any stretch, and if i wanted a car of that genre, i would buy an Evo, and take the extra $50k and get a porsche boxster S also...........

All the nay-sayers ... 'a ferrari is a (must have) ferrari' are simplifying way to much IMHO. If you have a $300K Ferrari sitting in your garage that you drive less than 5K miles per year (because its one of the most impractical cars on the planet), you can't help but think about other 'competitors' at far less cost (eg R8) that offer great value as well. Moreover, every decision about buying an exotic involves choice, and, assuming Ferrari owners arn't imbeciles, then informed choice requires iinformed searches. The choice to fork out big for a ferrari over other tantalizing cars isn't always easy. That's my take anyway and I've owned several Ferraris, including a CS.

For sure the GTR will spank most F-cars. I think it looks lot better than the 360 0r 430. (I have a 348 and like that style more) I kinda like the looks of the GTR big wing and all. It doesn't sound like a Ferrari, look like a Ferrari, or will ever be mistaken for a Ferrari. However, this post is making a valid point. Ferrari needs to step up in the HP/TQ game and build a supercar for 2-300k that is truly that. The performance should match the name/heritage in my opinion. It should be lonely at the top, not crowded with other cars performing better for half the price, Scott

(sorry if I offended any 360/430 owners, they are great cars)

It seems like today what makes some Ferraris a Ferrari is the price.

And I would pay 5 times as much for an 430 rather then buy the gtr.

    Is it a sport car?

    Nurburgring Nordschleife test

    Lamborghini Gallardo superleggera 7'46''
    Ferrari 599 GTB 7'47''
    Porsche 911 GT3 RS 7'48''

Waiting for the timing of the F430 Scuderia on the same track.

Nissan GTR 7'38''54''' ,not too bad (I have to ask a friend working for Volkswagen and Audi as well as Corvette for such test as he is having the record of rounds on this track - 3 500!).

But still not a ferrari, for many reasons.
