    Hi there

Just bought a new Laptop, runs win7 64-bit, Office 2010. Need to move my ipod, ipad, iphone to the new laptop, and also bring the contents of outlook from my old laptop over - how do you do it without losing data - Im terrified and the tech guys are losing me rapidly. Spent 7 hours so far trying to get this stuff done and Ive almost had enough!!

Dunno about Outlook, but suspect a "good" way may be to sync to the cloud somewhere (anyone got recommendations?) and pull everything back to the new box.

On the iTunes stuff, this should help:

Make sure auto-sync is *off*, but once you've got iTunes on the new box it's pretty simple.

    Good luck, cheers,
    Ian

Well, I managed eventually to get the music and apps done, but outlook is the pain. It's outlook 2010, and my iPhone and iPad just won't update new calendar info, nor new contacts. What can I do?

For Outlook, and this is off the top of my head, you want to export the .pst file to get all of your stuff moved over. So open Outlook, go to File, Import & Export. Then click on export to a file. The file type you want to select is Personal Folder File (.pst). In the next window click on personal folders and make sure you check the 'include subfolders'. When you click on next it will ask you where you want to save it, I like to save it to the desktop. When it's done creating the .pst file be sure to look at the size of the file. If you have a lot of email it should be a few megabytes large. If it's not then something went wrong. Importing is easier, just tell it to import the .pst file.

Office '07 and '10 may have some subtle differences but that's the basics of it.

Thanks for your input chaps - I spent a further 2 hours oin the phone with Apple, and by accident as they assured me there were no issues (despite the web being full of forums on the sunc issues), I noticed that Outlook 2010 uses the first email address it has as the default calendar and contacts, not the outlook.pst file. I changed the default, viola!, it starts working sweet!

All done, now its getting aol to load first time I try to open it, instead of double clicking up to 50 times plus 3 restarts each time I want to go online!!
