I just recieved this Cattelan Italia glass table, and let me tell you, its great. Price is extremely reasonable, for the quality.

The manufacturer is Cattelan Italia. This piece is made, then shipped from Italy. This can be very unsettling. However it arrived well packaged and extremely secured.

They come on black, brown, and also clear. IMO black just looks outstanding. Hope you all enjoy.

EDIT- Sorry for the crap pictures. This is the only place we had to put the table for time being.

Believe you me Jerry, I understand.

If it weren't for my wife, it wouldn't fit in with me.

I highly doubt anything with the words 'italian' and 'glass' would fit in the oh so longed for cabin in the woods....

    Thanks though

BTW, all I need now is some of your work to put on it! :) Im sure she'll love that.

It's nice but I can't help wondering if it would look much better with one transparent leg in the middle, attached to the lowermost piece, with a wide circular clear lucite base...so it looks like it is rising up out of the floor without any support. The other thing is, you can't really put magazines/remotes on it, as it is so beautiful to look at on its own and the shape is so organic/curvaceous. The only thing I could think of displaying on it would be a nice minimalist colored glass contemporary vase, full of curves, with a single flower stem on it, or a very low-key (in terms of shape) candle. What are you planning to put on it?

    Texas,

    Thanks, we love it.

    JS,

I assume there are limits to what can displayed on this piece to some. However, I believe that when it is in its final resting place with the furniture and art, it probably will not need anything. I believe its just a great low profile table to put between the couchs in the formal dining room, so its doesn't obstruct view.

Also, if it were to have a center stand only, it would have to be considerably thinner. This glass is THICH, and its not light in the least. I highly doubt with a stand of that type it would sustain its own weight. And it would not at all with a display piece along with it.

Looks fabulous! What a nice table.

As for the strength of a single leg under the middle, with a wide platform base, yes, you could easily make one out of thick clear plastic or lucite or other materials to hold up several hundred pounds of weight (if not thousands). They use similar material for huge aquarium walls.

I see your point. I was simply speaking of the glasses ability to sustain holding itself up with out collapsing onto itself.

Looks like it would be a really cool table to have miniature rca races on! I know that my kids would be rolling all sorts of crap down that ramp!

    cheers
