Hi Gang, After 7 years, 120k miles and countless bikes, kids and surfboards toted, my Honda Odyssey is nearing the end of it's useful (to me) life. In looking at replacements (minivan, wrangler unlimited, 4 door convertible, etc...), does anyone have insight as to what is a reasonable discount to MSRP these days? In Jan/Feb, at the depths of the dark days, I know of people buying new cars at 25-35% below MSRP. Obviously depends on what car you want, but any tips? The Blue Car (430 spider) is running great, but is not gonna be a cargo car... Thanks
We bought a new car for our daughter in late June at about $19k (Plus tax, etc...) when the MSRP was around $26k at Ed Morse Honda on Blue Heron. I sent out a request through edmunds.com and got 6 responses from local dealers. Ed Morse had the best price by about $1500 or so. I dealt with Mark Zisk, but he was assigned after I had received the price through the internet manager. I think the prices are up a bit since the Cash for Clunkers boosted sales a bit, but if they have a 2009 model with the options you want you should get a sweet deal. You only got 120k miles in 7 years? Our Odyssey is 4 years old with about 112k miles so far... We will probably take it in for a tune up and belts before it hits 150k miles. BT
I would also recommend to go to Edmunds.com, price the car you want with the options you want and then get a quote from a few dealers.
That's cause I drive my other car, vs. your garage queens... Damn, I wish I knew how to insert the smart-ass smiley...
