Time to replace my A3. I've loved every minute of ownership and have logged more than 350,000 on two A3's. I'm getting older. my back is getting more tired, and now I have to drive into NYC 3 or more times a month (roads SUCK). Need to find something inexpensive (price and maintenance), reasonable fuel economy, reasonable performance, and a bit soft.

Anyone have experience with the Cadillac CTS? I'm looking at a 2010 with the 3.6L and the "performance" package and AWD.

I've been looking to replace my cayenne.

I don't have any experience with the cts -4, but I did test drive a srx with 3.6. I loved the fit and finish, and the ride was really nice as well.

My S.O. Just bought an suv (Kia sportage, has a lot of features for the price!), so I be been thinking of nixing getting another suv. I am keeping my eye out for a 09 a4 2.0t w/ a stick. Seems like they can be had in the mid $20k's

You aren't going to believe this. I bought my first one new in 2006 and added 267,000 miles in 4 years. (yes, you read that right). I TRADED it for my second one. They gave me 9000 for the old one and sold me a 2006 with 48000 on the clock for 17000. That's right...my old car plus $8000. Hard to beat that deal. Maintenance wasn't bad on my first one but the second one is starting to challenge my patience. Thats why is Outta here.

Just pulled the trigger on the Caddy. Hope it doesn't suck.

Even offered a bonus gift...a free insulated travel bag...great for emptying the venetian table at weddings, funerals, and retirement parties. Baby Corn and dip anyone?

The TDI A3 is pretty cool, but it came out 4 years after the gas version debut in the US. I agree, great deal on the CPO A3s for under 20k.

good luck with the CTS, should be good in the snow too

Don't forget your subscription to Slipper Monthly. Showcasing vintage slippers from the 1910's to the 1950's. I believe they have a strict policy on not displaying slippers with "new fangled technology."

The amount of miles you drive I would have bought German e class or 5 series. American cars just done hold up. Ford/Lincoln seems to do much better .

    I do like the CTS

They send me a free starter membership last year. It mad me sad.

I think the reliability issue is determined mostly by the owner demographic nowadays: I suspect someone buying an Audi, BMW or Benz is more likely to be an enthusiast and will be more diligent in maintenance than someone with a Chrysler minivan. It think most automakers worldwide are pretty competitive these days, it's hard to buy a bad car no matter what the country of origin. This was not true a few years ago. Advances in materials science and manufacturing techniques have really helped everyone as well.

America is still behind on fit finish and quality of materials. If you look ay American cars the body gap are very inconsistent

I was in the same situation and decided on an e550 coupe. I was considering a CTS-V but I felt like I was getting more refinement and class with the Mercedes.

I would feel seriously guilty putting 50K miles per year on a car worth so much. Makes much more sense for me to buy less expensive machines and drive them without concern. I also like the economy of these lesser expensive cars. That doesn't mean I'm ready to pour my fat a$$ into a prius.

Wow, if I drove this much I`d get the most comfortable and fuel economic car available. Even if it was a Prius.

Keep us up to date with the CTS.

I love my insulated travel bag they sent me, great for a keeping a couple cans of chilled Starbucks Double Espresso Shots. Comes in handy when I'm on a rally and have to miss my nap.
