Hello to all, I am happy to be the new owner of March 1972 Dino 246GT #03510 Metallic Gray with White interior. It has less than 32,000 miles, driven 6,000 miles in past 20 years, 400 miles in past 4 years. 1st owner owned for 6 months. 2nd owner for 32 years 3rd owner - today I will need to go through all the systems to ensure roadworthiness. I have owned 2-Fiat Dino Coupes, Fiat Dino Spider, 3-308's, and 365GTC/4. I am very happy to now own this Dino 246GT. It is a keeper. It is art on wheels. I look forward to taking part in Dino 246GT discussions and will share anything I find or know. This is a very unmolested Dino. It still has the original "made in Italy" Autovox radio. Grats! This model is in the all-time top 5 for me. Is there a factory color that this car does not look good in? The Ferrari badges will look good sitting on a shelf...
Congrats with your new purchase!!! Looks in very good condition. Sounds you have full history of the car. Don't forget to register at Denny Shue's Dino register. Have fun with it!!
She's a beauty. Saw it on ebay last week, hoped that someone would snap it up. Owner seemed like a good guy, I exchanged a couple of emails with him. that's a very unusual color, both inside and out. Is the paint original? How about some pics of the engine bay, tool roll, manuals. It's not often that we get to look over an unmolested, very original car to see what was going on in the 70's. Congratulations on a beautiful car. Good luck with her. [momentary hijack] UroTrash, are you paying attention??? Here's another one that you could have had. [end hijack] DM.
The Ferrari badge attack was done by the Ferrari dealer themselves prior to the original sale. Go figure. I plan to remove the front badge and rear script, if and when I repaint. The paint has its cracks and crazing, since it is the original paint, but I want to do all the mechanical stuff first. I will be taking it to Monterey this year. I plan to go to the Quail Lodge event. Concours Italiano has gotten out of hand and I don't like the sardine can parking for the Ferrari's. Exceptional find - congratulations! I love the color combo and you are ooooh so lucky to have the warranty card along with the books and tools. Sure saves alot of $earching Does the Jack top have a missing end cap? Mine Dunn of Mad Enterprises sells repros of them http://www.madenterprise.com/ The 246 GT sure holds its lines better than the GTS. How about some driving impressions? These can go quite fast and handle very nicely - I had mine at a burst to 130Mph on 101 North of Paso Roble going to Monterey last year and it was a blast!
Congratulations, use it well! Unusual to see a US version 246 without electric windows, although they do turn up occasionally.
More congrats! But I have a question for everyone on this thread. What is that yellow Ferrari booklet? Is it the dealer list booklet for 1974? The dealer list booklet for my Sept 1972 GTS is sort of a lime green color with the Cavalino at top/center, and Ferrari above Dino on the bottom/right.
1971 Dealer directory is yellow, dino will not be on the cover Tom Shaughnessy San Clemente CA will still pay the moon for a 1969 Directory (got anyone's attention $1000) will trade 1968, alternatively
The owner's manual, parts book, dealer book are 1971. The supplement is 1972. My Dino was manufactured in March 1972. Let me know the date and time of the FCHAT dinner at Monterey and I will be there. I am keeping the original paint on the Dino for now. I want to concentrate on the mechanical side of the car then move to the cosmetics. I don't mind driving the Dino around needing paint and interior work. The driving part is thrilling! Rich
