hi all- it seems my exhaust has a few holes in it, so apparently i need a new one...any idea of which kind? i have a 1970 euro 246gt on the superperformance site, there's two sorts.. 1450f_246_exhaust_sm Exhaust box stainless steel 246 (Late type, loose flange) Exhaust box stainless steel 246 (Early type, fixed flange) am i loose, or fixed? (i'm really opening myself up to some comedy here..) thanks.. phil
Phil, I had a similar issue with my steering rack recently (didn't know which type). I called them at Superformance and they were very, very helpful and I eventually got all the correct parts etc. probably worth calling.....
Phil, Jacques at Maseratisource also sells a S/S exhaust. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FERRARI-246-DINO-304T-STAINLESS-STEEL-EXHAUST-SYSTEM-/190383858086?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c53c321a6 I don't know if it will fit your car. Coop
Also consider x-ost as an option. (ask Uro if he likes it) and, GASP, consider STEBRO, carefully, as some here have had problems, but I loved their sport exhaust on my Dino. It's great as long as you don't spend hours on the highway. DM
Hey Phil- are u sure that you need a new one? Could the seals between the exhaust & the headers be shot? Maybe do you have some small holes that can be patched up? The exhausts are expensive...I wouldnt just buy a new one without confirming that it is bad. I spent some time under your car (mostly front end) but dont remember thinking it was shot. You should make sure that it is bad before you take the jump.
I would stick with the original ANSA... there is nothing like teh original sound of a Dino. http://www.dinoparts.de/EN/ferrari-246-gt-gts/exhaust/original-ansa-exhaust/original-ansa-exhaust-system.html
You also might want to try Tubi. It has a different sound from the original Ansa and is somewhat louder. I would sell you my original Ansa, as I don't think I will ever need it, but I am all the way in Manila. Regards, Andres
My Stebro had a minor fit issue, but I never resolved if the headers had a slight bend or the muffler hanger wasn't the correct length. Eventually a new hanger had to be fabricated and welded on, when the original broke it had a gap about 1/4 inch to the muffler. Like I said, my headers may have taken a hit before I had the car.
Phil- come by this weekend & I'll put your car up on the rack to see if you need a new system. I'll bet that you don't!
Better materials.......but a slightly different tone, as many have noted..... That UK Shop that is doing Ferrari Systems in stainless is a value too, IMO.
So what was the outcome here? Phil, have you gotten a new exhaust system and if so, which one? I'm in need of a new one as well. Thanks, Manny
