Well bought a 2008 F430 with only 4,445 miles recently. Was told by the Ferrari dealer the exhaust was sound. Then 11 months later, time for an oil change and general look over. Smoke test shows both manifolds have cracks. Dealer wants $17,000. Luckily my indy. needs much less.
It ticks me off just to read this because thats a total rip off. If you don't need that dealer I'd call them out on it and report them. These dealers are getting away with to much
If you are replacing like with like, you might think about fitting expansion brackets - there is about 18 mm movement to the rear when hot
Something doesn't sound right; there's either something more in the dealer quote that we're not privy to, or the dealer thinks you have a Bugatti.
I just bought 2 brand new oem challenge manifolds for ~$1450 shipped. will be installing soon on my channel.
About £4600 for a pair in the uk, add £100 for the joints , studs, nuts etc. $6000 US ?. Dead easy to do your self if you put it on axle stands
The $17k I mentioned was from a different customer, not me. This price was reported to my Indy. mechanic and needless to say that customer will not be going to the local Ferrari dealer. The problem with the OEM manifolds was poor quality in the stainless welds. As mentioned earlier these SS tubes grow when hot putting stress on the welds. I've heard that Tubi now makes the replacement manifolds for Ferrari, replacing an older supplier with the quality issues. Tubi still makes their own brand also but without the Pre-Cats which can trigger check engine lights. Tubi's manifolds are a little cheaper than the Ferrari OEM replacements.
A long time ago my local Ferrari dealer quoted me $10,000.00 for both exhaust manifolds for my 360 with no installation, no hardware, no gaskets. Just the two pieces.
I don't think the challenge manifolds are even available anymore..unless Ferrari has decided to commission a run. I have been monitoring these for a while now just to have a set on the shelf..where did you manage to find a set? Next best are the TUBI manifolds..nothing else even compairs really..
Purchase from eurospares last month. Are tubis better? Yes. capristo? Yes. larini? Sure. Fabspeed? Probably not lol. Most headers claim 20-30 HP, as does Ferrari with the scud/challenge numbers. So you're getting an OEM Ferrari part, with heat shielding, with a HP bump, no failure record for under 1500, vs tubi for 8k, capristo for 9k, larini for 6.5k?
Humm..I tried to get them from Eurospares earlier this year. How long was it from placing your order..to having them in hand? I was quoted 8 weeks at minimum..
Ordered 7/14, at my door 8/8. I worked with jake, he's usually the guy on the little chat on the website. Very informative and can give you some up to the date information
