Hello fellow posters, I just picked up my 97 F355 6spd Spider with 25k. I bought it in San Francisco (area) and drove it down to Southern California with only a check engine light giving me grief. I have a couple of questions for the esteemed members of the forum: 1. I plugged in my Innova 3100 OBDII reader and it told me it couldn't communicate with the car. Anyone know a secret on this? 2. The car is missing the passenger side cover in the engine bay that has the shock actuator poking through. Where can I source one other than prowling ebay? 3. The color is Canne De Fucile. Was this a standard color or a custom job from the factory? Where can I research that? I've been reading many posts in the past couple of weeks and feel much better about my ownership. Thanks and I look forward to many posts with the forum. Onash Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the OBD issue , there was a recall that needs to be done. That could be the problem. Have a dealer check to see if there any open recall campains on your car. Beautiful color. Congrats.
Nice car!!! As Bob mentioned, you need to be sure your car has the OBDII recal performed. But, the car also needs to be started to communicate with the reader. See attached recall Image Unavailable, Please Login
See this thread: (yes, the color is standard) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/447037-helpful-information-those-search-355-a.html#post143111777
Congrats! If you got a fairly sorted car you are going to love it. Even if you didn't you'll probably love to hate it. That color looks great. I'd like to see a few more pics of it. Even if it was a factory offered color my guess would be that it is still pretty rare. Another congratulations on not buying red.
Thank you all for the warm wishes. I am already enjoying it, even with a the CEL. My friend told me: "It's a FERRARI! who cares. Plus all the light are light up giving a nice colorful display." LOL Thanks Geohop for the tip on the shroud. I'll get more photos posted. Canna di Fucile translates to "Gunmetal"! I should've seen it that coming, and it was a factory color - I even found it at Dr. Color Chip. Lastly, the goofy snaps that hold the tonneau cover are a major pain but found them for $7.95 a piece at Eaglebay.com. Thanks again, and we'll be chatting soon. Onash.
Congratulations Omar. Once you get settled with her, you have to join the rest of the SoCal 348/355 brotherhood (just for you Ernie) for a get-together. Welcome to the club, Henry
I just joined the club with a Berlinetta, but the Spider in Canna di Fucile is stunning. I used to think Ferrari / exotic car paints were unobtainium-special and not quite like what you get on lesser cars, but as I began to research the F355 I learned that it's mostly the deeply sculpted body style and the different ways in which each colour accentuates them. Enjoy in full health, and do go out to meet the SoCal community of owners!
Congrats, I think you got a "smokin'" deal. If I hadn't gotten my first choice car, I was going to get that one. I just wish it had stayed in NorCal.
Henry, Thank you for the invite, I look forward to meeting the gang. Maybe at Cars and Coffee? Vracer - I'm glad I snagged it before you did. Omar
I'll be at the Ritz Carlton for a meeting in a few weeks and would be glad to meet up if you want to swing by the hotel. I have a manual transmission 1997 spider in Gaillo Modena and can share with you what I've learned about mine. I'd be curious how far apart our serial numbers are - mine is 108941.
