My new 360 arrived this week. I cruised by the dealership today to check it out, and the car is not exactly as ordered. I'm not totally bummed (I mean, my first new Ferrari, still looks good, etc.) but I am a bit let down.

The two things not as ordered are: lower dash was supposed to be red (it is black, as is most of the rest of the interior), and a portion of the door panel was also supposed to be red. The car is grigio titanio exterior, black interior with red stiching, and red daytona seats with black inserts.

My questions to the community is how should I handle this with my dealer?

Thanks (and I know this thread needs picks--battery on the camera was dead).

Sorry I cant be of any help, but it sounds like an AWEOSME interior! Hopefully you can work it out!

It is VERY rare for the dealer to make a mistake. These are high end luxury-exotic cars, it is unlikely that a dealer would not make an apology on the spot or have made it right. I suggest you grow a pair and straighten this out. With my experience it was right the first time, if it was not, heads would have rolled. I suggest you take my advice and don't **** around, head back storm in the door and shout 'for over $200k, I would have expected you to get atleast one thing right' and say you are not sure you want the car anymore, you'll have to think about it, turn around and storm out. As you pass the door, turn back and yell 'if i wanted to buy off the rack, i would have bought a porsche!'

(pause for laughter, shock, things thrown at you)

    seriously
If you did not make your displeasure known when viewing the car, than you have a problem, they may think you are a push over, give you some Fila 'Clown shoes' and send you on your way with the car as-is.

    Congrats!

I think you're better off leaving well enough alone. You could probably get them to make it right but then they would have to tear your brand new Ferrari apart!

Maybe they can compensate you somehow -- ask for a free 5K service down the line (you do plan to drive it don't you!).

I'd be a little pissed as well, not unless you like what you got better. If the build sheet is clear and they skrewed it up, I'd tell them that you are not satisfied. If it really bugs you refuse the car and order another one. For that kind of dough it should be perfect. They should be able to get you in line for another and or the new 430. At this stage that might be a better bet ;)

I was in the same situation. I ordered tan daytonas with blk stitching and blk inserts. When I received the car it only had blk stitching. The inserts were tan. I can't complain. It still looks good. But still... it would have looked better my way.

    Gheez Scott...sorry to hear that!

I guess they should give you more time to sell your 360 or give you a better deal on the trade in :)

Ask how much longer it would take to get your car delivered "right" ?

    Martin

I mean time is on your side here. Maybe they can swap an anxiouos owner that is next on the list into this car and get you his position and do the car right! I'd ask at least.

i assume you have not talked to the dealer yet?

seems to me there are two scenarios:

    (A) the car was delivered as ordered. that is, the order was not what you thought it was. do you have a printout of the order that you placed at order time? or anything like that with all the details?

    (B) the car was not delivered as ordered. the dealer should make it right. these are cosmetic changes - TOTALLY doable at the dealer. it might take a bit to get the parts from italy (they don't generally stock custom leather stuffs in new jersey).

for this kind of money, and waiting time, you should get EXACTLY what you want.

    good luck.

    doody.

Thanks for the thoughts so far. Doody, I have the signed order confirmation sheets--they show the correct information, and the car does not match the details on those sheets. I actually think it may not be the dealer; this may have been mishandled at Ferrari NA or Ferrari SPA. Martin, we may have longer to sell my current 360 than we thought. Photos to follow sometime this next week.

There was a skeleton crew there this weekend, so I won't have any substantive conversations with the dealer until next week.

    Hi Scott,
I think talking to the dealer is good start. Hopefully he will be willing to acceot fault or be of some service. If not, you should not hesitate to contact Ferrari North America, Inc or Ferrari S.p.A. Maranello, Italy. They are extremely responsive to car owner requests. Especially if it is a new car.

scott - just remember that the problems you've described are TOTALLY fixable at the dealership - they just need to get the correct parts. it's not like you wanted green stitching throughout and you got purple - that would basically be non-fixable - the dealership would have to order you a new car. but the lower dash and door panels are absolutely no big deal. pick the car up asap so you can enjoy it, as part of the agreement, make sure it states they're going to fix it, and in a month or two you'll bring it in for one day so they can swap the pieces. total no-brainer.

Don't worry Scott, it sounds like you have an excellent interior set-up (as long as your steering wheel & upper-dash is not red IMHO:D)

Here's what happened to me... when I was in the market for a new 360, I put a word out that I want a 360 with the following:

    1. 6-Speed
    2. Interior (Silver or Red)
    3. Interior (Black or Tan)
    4. Hi-Fi (Subwoofer)
    5. Power Seats
    6. Shields

Things listed above was what I insisted. I didn't really care about the rest such as Daytona Seats (how can I miss that, thank God my car comes w/ powered Daytona Seats), color of the carpet /lower dash, F/R Challenge Grill etc…

Anyway, when I got a call that my car has arrived. I almost fainted when I hear about the Red Carpet, Red Lower Dash, Black seats w/ black door panel and lack of the Subwoofer. The interior I wanted was plain black (on red & silver body color) or blk/tan (on red body color)

But it all change when I went check out the car, I was sold the moment I sat in it. :)

So, I would encourage you to go see the car ASAP and you should be happy w/ what you get. Please post pictures !

Nuff’ said, gotta go (friend’s underground bachelor party).

Oh and here is 2 pictures of what I was talking about, not too shabby I’ll say.

(PS: For those who have seen them, I’m sorry to bother you w/ these pictures again.)

I had a similar experience, but when I bought my Audi S4. I wanted the bright silver at time of order, and discovered in shock at delivery that it was the darker anthracite. Hated myself for not double checking the purchase contract and checking the color codes, but I love the car the way it is.

Simple question: what does your contract specifically say ?

Reading the thread, does not seem to be an exception, I am not surprised ...

Ze Shark--I don't have a detailed "contract". What I have is a signed/dated "Ferrari Order Conformation Form" listing the appropriate details, including option codes, color codes, etc. For example the dash is listed as "red (112806) lower dash".

The car is wrong, plain and simple. Whether or not the car looks better as delivered, or would have looked better as ordered, is a more abstract issue.

I appreciates the comments from all, and will post a follow up as to how things work out, as well as photos of the current car, by next weekend.

Scotty, i am a mere ancient 308 owner, but i say you should have gotten what you ordered, for the $$$ at stake. they need to make it right, or need need to take it up a notch. yes its a Ferrari, its YOUR FERRARI. but it is not as ordered and expected. no need to get rude with them at the dealer, but i would suggest something be done to make it right or walk from it. DO NOT ACCEPT THE CAR OR SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY. the longer it sits there, the more they will be willing to work it out. i would not compomise at all, but thats just me. best of luck to you. i would love to see pics when it all works out!!! michael

Jimmy you really lucked out I thought you order it that way. Ferraris are special cars and yours must feel that way every time you climb in. I swear the interior pics of your car haunt my desktop more than any other.

    Scotty,

Dooody gave you some good advice they should be able to fix this in house with not much trouble. As before mention I would like to see some pics of how it looks currently, it sounds amazing. Good luck

    Don
