"These cars currently fetch between $80,000 to $220,000 according to one dealer" If that dealer has any scuds for $80k I would be a very interested buyer.
It's the classic Icarus Syndrome that plagues men in particular----once you are successful enough to obtain the car of your dreams, you can't stop yourself from sampling the ecstasy it promises you at every opportunity. But none of us are immortal. At this point, it can only serve as a lesson learned. He is lucky to not be dead or at least severely handicapped for life. Money can replace a car, but can't erase death or permanent disability.
Funny how the article said speed was not a factor ? Was he texting and ran into a ditch? Maybe he can get a 488 or 720, and go even faster 0-60 in 2.9. Wonder if CF would hold out vs aluminum. Glad he is OK, but RIP for another 430 scud, all scud are now worth a little more$.
It sounds more like the heavy rain we have been having, had a lot to do with it. Our motorways can get pretty hairy in heavy rain
"It's unclear what he paid for the car, but it was one of only 499 ever sold with an original list price of $288,000. These cars currently fetch between $80,000 to $220,000 according to one dealer." Prices start from 160kUSD, not from 80k. If the production number is right, that car would have been a 16M. But looking at the pictures, it was not. No rollbars can be seen from that pile of smoking junk it has become. Such a waste. Imagine calling all your friends saying: "Finally bought a Scud!" *CRASH* Perhaps some model specific driving lessons from the dealer would have been needed in this case.
Why does anybody need any extra tuition? Perhaps it was an accident, an accident that had the driver been in his diesel Ford Mondeo he would still have had. Accidents happen and they happen in all makes and models of cars and it beats me that some driver crashing in a supercar needs further training. I'm also pretty sure one of the articles suggested that excessive speed was not involved.
Nah I highly doubt a 1st time supercar owner would jump right into a Scuderia. 430s are very predictable if you know what you are doing BUT its very hard to correct once you over power the rears too much.
