Rob, Very well done. I like the fact that the Ferrari Ads site mirrors that of Ferrari Chat. It is a very clean look. Once again, congrats. Can't wait to see the new FerrariAds up & running. Andrew
Rob, is there a shortcut to "transfer" our ads to the new forum...or do we have to basically re-submit and up-load our photographs and information? Thanks, PeterB.
You'll want to resubmit anyway because the new software allows you to submit any size image. It will then create a thumbnail, but the larger version will still be available. Just copy and past your text. Thanks, rob
Sorry, I'm missing the obvious here. Have we switched to a new classifieds format? If so, where?? I checked FerrariAds.com just now and am not noticing anything new.
Rob, I didn't see an area for contact information and I'm not sure that my e-mail address will automatically default for viewers. I assume we must provide the contact info. of our choice in the description area. I tried a few times to submit a "Wanted" ad, but the software wouldn't let me past step 2, it got 'hung up' on step 2. I did successfully place/transfer a parts ad though. I viewed your ad and noticed three thumbnails appeared, and another with the red 'x.' On my ad, my thumbnail didn't appear (just the red 'x' attached image icon) until I clicked on "supersize me." I'm a little slow on computers, so forgive me for this question: When logged in and viewing one of your own personal ads, the edit options will show up automatically for you... yes? I clicked on your ad and those edit options were NOT available to me. Am I understanding the format here?
Should default to the email of your FC user account. Working for me right now. Of course if your FC account email isn't updated or you have a Nazi service like AOL that blocks system generated emails, even wanted ones, then I can't help you. Old software was like that too. I'll have to figure this out. Thank you. You shouldn't be getting any red x's, except up in the header where I have some bugs with the forum integration. yes
Outstanding Issues... - PM 'bad link' - FC Home Link 'bad image' - Wanted not working Step 2 - 'bad image' on thumbnails
Thanks Rob...I'll try in a few days to post my "wanted" ad again, when I do, I plan to post a photo of what I'm after as well...posting photos will be an option for "wanted ads," yes? PeterB.
Hmm, I guess it could be, not sure yet, for the time being it will be the software's standard Wanted template.
Supersizing doesn't seem to do much with the images I uploaded. How big a file should I use? Otherwise, GREAT!!!! EXCELLENT!!!! More categories would still be nice, but a big improvement. I'd pay to get a listing on there. DM
Hopefully this will happen, this way those responding to the "wanted" ad can see what you're after, particularly if one is after a specific part with a design spec. that might be different, thanks to mid-year changes that occured often in the factory. I agree, could the "supersize image" eventually be programmed for a larger display? PeterB.
What do you mean? When you posted a larger image, did it leave it the same size or shrink to 250 by 250? Like the forums, I believe the least number of categories you can have while still efficiently finding what you want is the best.
take a peek when you get a chance, I ahve three ads on there. IF you try to supersize the image, it opens in a new browser, but at about 150% of the thumbnail, not really Supersized at all. Agreed. just thought it might mirror the forum for Vintage, modern, etc. DM.
OK, then it is sizing to 250 by 250 I guess, that's what the setting is. I can raise that. Well, that will be nice, right now not enough Vintage and Super Cars for sale.
There is an unwanted "tick" in the system that doesn't allow you to post for sale and wanted ads in the same category. I'm going to figure a way around this, but for now I've created a Wanted category in both Ferrari and Other. Give me 5 minutes and I'll up the image size to 640 by 640.
Hi Rob, I sucessfully added my "wanted" ad , no picture option though. I'd sure like to see a photo option available for that in the future. I edited my "air-injection plugs" ad, changing the photo. This worked fine, however, the "supersize" link wasn't present in my ad below the thumbnail. Just FYI, I'm sure you're still sorting out the bugs. Thanks for all your effort! PeterB.
Although I have www.ferrariads.com now pointed to the new software, if you need to copy text from the old software, you can still access it at http://www.ferrariads.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi.
Rob, I finally saw the new software in its "unbugged" format...blew my hair straight back. Thanks for "cleaning up" the Ferrari Ads! PeterB.
Rob, I may the loner here but I really dislike the new classified layout. The old one was much neater and easier to use. It may have had less "wizz-bang" but that is what I liked about it. It sems too many people have fallen victim to making their websites "snazzy" but have forgotten that the key is simplicity, ease of assimilating information and moving around in the website. On these counts I think the new setup is worse than the old. Just my opinion and probably wrong-but what the hey!
