not too bad. I think they will do fine here. didn't look laughably small like the smart cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That could be a GREAT alternative to the VW Beetle for the Best Buy "Geek Squad" cars - something different, anyway. I hope it catches on here... time will tell. Jedi Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are they officially sold in the US? The 500 is very popular over here in the EU. I've driven a 500 Abarth, very fun little car.
Looks pretty good. Can't wait to see it in person, wonder if they will have the Multi Air Engines here as well? Where is JJ911, he probably knows.
Drove one here in the USA. It was brought over for a car show by a friend from the UK. Lots of fun, great build quailty and got lots of attention. Image Unavailable, Please Login
saw one on park ave here in nyc a few months back. michigan plates on it. almost banged on the window to find when i could get one. Fiat needs a nice viral marketing campain for the 500 as it should be a hit here.
I've seen several in Europe and I like them. A Chrysler dealer told me last week that he doesn't expect them until 2012, if then. He went on to tell me what a complete mess Chrysler is in...loading dealers up with slow sellers, don't produce the strong sellers fast enough, no idea how the FIAT hookup is going to work. They could still fail.
Id like a Punto Abarth Esse Esse. 500 is just too small. http://www.topgear.com/uk/fiat/grande-punto-abarth/road-test/esseesse
Last year in Italy I watched (on TV) the 500 Abarth racing series at Monza and the cars looked like they were a ton of fun. Hope the Abarths come here.
Not that Fiat (or Chrysler) management actually stick to their plans, but when does a dealer know what's up? Anyway, sounds like production starts in December. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/16/report-u-s-market-fiat-500-to-get-upgraded-platform/
An Abarth is the only car I'd replace my Mini Cooper S Works with. I hope they actually do it. My Mini is already 8 years old but nothing... not even the new Mini's... are worth changing it for.
Went to the NY Auto show last night. It was late, 9:30, and it was a ghost town. But, based on this display there, I'll go out on a limb and say Fiats really will be here soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a yellow one out in the wild I spotted in Fort Collins, Colorado yesterday morning (April 3rd, 2010). It was following a yellow Mini Cooper, and they both had Michigan MFR license plates. A couple more photos are here: http://felixwong.com/2010/04/spotted-fiat-500-in-fort-collins-co/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL! Ferrari charges $10 grand extra for pearl white "out of range" paint! Somehow, I don't think the little Fiat will do the same.
Saw the "twins" at the auto show Sat night. According to the reps on the floor they will be here end of 2010 with the Abarth version about 1yr later although this could be moved up. Again according to the rep on the floor the Abarth version will have more HP than the current euro version as Americans like horsepower, I believe 170. Anyway, loved the cars and the "twins". Forgot, the 170hp is more than the current 160hp of the Abarth esseesse. Base cars to start under 20k. No price on the Abarth.
Pearl white paint is a 1k Eur option on the Fiat 500. That's exactly what I was told by some friends at Abarth. Also, it will have Multiair.
