Abarth stuff would make it better, for sure. I just can't get around the styling. It looks clumsy to me. The front is silly looking, and I have no idea what is going on with that rear end. I just don't like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not in love with the design but it's better than the miata's front end. Neither car going to win asthetic awards but the excellence is in the driving.
some Chrysler heavyhandedness design grafted on to a miata all for a gain of 100lbs, well the instrument binacle looks nice. Not bad, but to paraphrase, I new a Fiat spider and stylistical this is no Fiat spider.
Confusing. This Jalopnik report shows an Arbath versions that looks just like the 2016 Miata from AJS328's post. So there seems to be FIAT models with different front ends and the Mazda model(s) appear to share the same sheet metal. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As an owner of several Fiats , absolutely hate the new spider. Nothing to compare to the original. Here is a picture of my 1971 BS1 example with her other stablemates. Fiat / Ferrari -- bring Pininfarina designs back !!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think some decent wheels would go a long way, the ones in all the press shots are extremely bland. I like the styling but it needs some character in the wheels.
Don't forget - this was supposed to be a JV with Alfa for the new Spider, so luckily it didn't go that route.. Alfa Romeo MX-5 is no more: confirmed as Fiat-Abarth instead by CAR Magazine
Fiat looks like a 2009 concept. MX5 looks current. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the new MX5 looked in motion on the street. I applaud Mazda because they are making great cars these days, the 6 is also a nicely designed car, proving that normal cars don't have to be boring.
Not for quite a while now - Ford sold most of their 32% controlling interest in Mazda back in 2009, and just last month sold off their remaining few percent. Right now, Ford has absolutely no financial position in Mazda.
Took these last night at LA Auto Show. Former 124 Spider owner here. Less than impressed. Even the spokesmodel said "yeah, it's mostly a Miata but has a Fiat engine and suspension..." Swing and a miss for Fiat. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was at the Central Florida International Auto Show in Orlando yesterday. Didn't see a Fiat Spider but the Miata was there. Not a fan of the snake eyes headlights, but then I'm not a buyer. Otherwise, it looked great... and fun. . Image Unavailable, Please Login

IMHO the Mazda version "snake eyes" which is the current trend are ugly where the FIAT version in white is more palitable, the headlights, although a bit fussy while trying to be traditional.
I owned a 68 124 sport as my first car. The car was awsome. light, easy to slide and good looking. this thing here is nowhere close to the original. Someone gets rid of the freagging regulations and bring back real cars, not cars for zombies. This could be a BMW, toyota or honda, Nissan or a chrysler car. Absolutely no soul like the original 124
Notice the retro styling cues which carried over to the new Fiat; scalloped hood, rear flanks, front grill shape and its modern rendition of the headlight "bucket". . . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
