Well, the live timing got me excited... now, what about the TV coverage..... Results elsewhere, won't spoil it here......... yet
M.Schumacher F.Massa J.Button the new knockout qulifaying system is not bad.... regards, seeya on the road.... DILLIGAF
Kimi's incident in the first session was pretty ugly, with the car trying to trip over its own RR wheel!
alot more i hope.(so mclaren can keep JPM and Ferrari get Kimi) All jokes aside the NEW F1 rocks though, i like it!
One more incident like Kimi had in Qualifiying this year and i reckon he'll be up for murdering one of his crew............ fair dinkum they have cost him sooooo much over the last few years.... many race wins, a world title or 2 etc etc.
Was on 2.30am last nite on 10. I hope they show qualfiying for the rest of the year and not a one off. Looks like this years race will only be less than 30mins behind Back to qualfiying, 1st session was useless and while it was partly exciting to see 19cars qualify in 3mins due to Kimi's loss they should merge 1st 2 sessions together and have 12 cars bow out. Last session was great for a spectator at the track, but they werent pushing hard soo it felt like a practise session till the last 5mins. Soo all in all, its more of the same, the top drivers not doing much till late in the session. Some interesting ideas but the new format is still far from ideal.
I have to disagree with you here. I liked the idea of no tyre changes. It rewarded good drivers. Also it kept the races interesting all the way the end. You never knew when a tyre might go, or someone had to nurse a car home. I fear that this season will return to being boring. As for qualifying I think I'm going to have to take a couple of races to fully understand the system.
Really? U didnt find last year boring? Last year was the most boring season of F1 in the history of F1. The USA race was more interesting than some of the races thru the year. How is nursing a car home fun to watch? The tyre changes is the single biggest/best move FIA did to make the sport interesting to watch again.
ditto. Btw, remember I had asked you about Bob Hamilton? Well, I noticed he is listed to do Targa this year in a 1995 M3 R. It will be interesting to see if he's the guy I used to know. Also noticed Shaun Juniper is listed driving a 2000 996 turbo and Michael Sherrin in a 2003 Mini Cooper S.
I actually found the year before really boring, I would just watch the first 15minutes to see if there were any crashs then I would turn it off. Because whoever was winning half way through the race won probably 80% of the time. I like wheel to wheel racing. Not just seeing the cars go fast. Racing should be about the drivers not the cars. Especially in a category that is heavily controlled. It's stupid when the only overtaking happens in the pitlane. Like last year when Kimi's wheel shat itself on the last lap. Some say he was robbed but if he didn't flat spot the tyre earlier he would have won the race. When I say about nursing the car home. In previous years, the cars all remained at the same pace through out the race, but last year if the driver stuffed his tyres then he couldn't keep up the pace. Same if you chose intermediates over slicks, if the conditions aren't wet enough, you can perform as well. Where if the cars should be on a perfect tyre all the time then maybe they should all stop and put the same tyre on so that they keep the same pace as everyone. Whereas if you have to nurse a car home you become a target for other drivers to overtake. The only inprovement I thought they should have made was to change the aero packages so that cars could follow close behind each other. This limited opportunities because even if you were faster then someone you couldn't get close enough, without losing grip and speed, to overtake
Yeah Beama, the Sherrins and Shaun will be there. Rog has an entry also i think (he'll confirm for sure). Yep Bob will be there in his M3R. Let me know if it's him. Off topic in an interesting twist, i noticed that you're a Steve G, which is also me
with the time difference I'll have to make sure not to check this thread until the race is over.....nothing worse than knowing the result at lap 5.
It brings come drama back into the pitstops and moves the sport back into performance racing rather than endurance if you ask me.
Im pretty sure this is his M3R. I saw it being driven by this old fella on Wynnum road near Cannon Hill shopping center. I saw it at the track a while ago too, i wish took more photos, looked like a special machine, 1 of 15 in oz i think. Cant wait for the race to start, just a couple more hours here is a pic of it. Yeah but you've got to remember in years past there has only probably been 3-4 stuff ups in pit stop per year. Once again it should be about the drivers not the pit mechanics.
i'll be at tassie with a new nav , get this he plays soccer with my brother-in-law but we teamed up through other channels....small world
