Since the mid 60's when I was a teenager reading every car magazine out there, I have loved the GT40. Raced the slot cars, had the posters, and lived for Lemans every year. When Ford brought the new one out in 2005, I was smitten, and put it on the someday list. After a 6 month run with the 993 Turbo P-bug, I was bored and wanted more sound and exotic exerience. I found that in the Ford GT. Been searching for a month for a blue one, as they are very hard to find, and through dryhole, found one at Lamborghini Houston exactly like I wanted. Since I was having RUF sell the Turbo, I let Jonathan Peck and LH's Gary Seale work out the details, as they had been friends for years. Flew down yesterday, and drove the GT home.

It is a very stable, straight tracking, road eating beast. Probably rides better than my SRT8. Back on familiar roads in Dallas, the acceleration is blinding, and the sounds, amazing!

Now the Cullum/Johnson Classic Cars team has the 355 Spider and the Ford GT to use for our monthly swaps. For now I can't think of a better duo!

    Stunning.....

    I am speechless....

    I am without speech....

But I do have a few comments. Great looking car. I think Ford knocked one out of the park with this car. Car and Driver tested one in their August 05 issue and it came in 3rd behind the Lamborghini Gallardo and a F430. However, comparing lap times at the track, it was only 0.07 of a second behind the Ferrari. The GT also had the fastest times from 0-60, 0-100, 0-150, and through the 1/4 mile. Ford also had the highest top speed at 205 mph. That's just about equal to me in my book. Oh, also don't forget that the new price for the Ford was about $40K to $50K less than the Ferrari. As much as I love Ferrari, I think the GT got a bad rap from the reviewers and is an outstanding car. Well, I guess I had more to say than I realized.

    Again, well done,

    Jeff

I want a ride. Tell me when and where. I'll buy lunch, I'll buy dinner, I'll buy scotch, whatever. I want a ride.

Sadly, of all the nice cars I've been exposed to over the last few years of Ferrari ownership, this is the FIRST time I've ever said that. I want a ride.

Wow Phil, you don't mess around about your car collection. When I heard you were selling the P-BUG, I thought you just were going to scaling back just to have more room in the garage. What a surprise, I want a ride also!

Btw, are you going to let Mark drive it at MSR?

Get in line! I told Phil the same thing on Saturday... I rarely ask anyone for a ride, but that car is something special. Just tell me where to be and when to be there, Phil! :)

    Nice colors. Very classy.
Always thought the Gulf Blue/orange would be cool but dont know if its a "livable" color. Others love it or hate it.

It's hard to "wow" this group, but you did it. Looks like I'm third in line for a ride. Hope you havent traded it in for something else by then.
