I had promised to post some pics of the new garage we're building. The weather in NJ has not been good so it's behind schedule. They stucco'd the outside two days ago and are ready to sheet rock the interior. I can't wait to move in. It is a total of 1900 sq ft, with a kitchenet, home theater, bar, a/c and heat. The a/c will run constantly as it is a filtering system so I can keep the covers off the cars. I'll post some finished pics when done.

Happy New Year to all, lets hope next year is a better one.

    Regards,
    John

Looks great John! If I may make a humble suggestion, if it's not too late, double the ammount of lighting you're already using. It will make the cars sparkel that much more :)

Looks cool. Why did you decide to go with a smaller garage door? Will you have to jockey stuff around this way? Just curious......

Hi Hutch, Happy New Year to you as well. Anyway, the rents to high.

Look forward to having everyone over when it's done.

I have three types of lighting, ten highhats on two dimming switches, four focusing spot lights and two large gas lights in the middle of the room. When we want to polish a car the middle of the room will have bright white lighting for that purpose. Should look OK, hope so.

There is one sixteen foot door into the room, out town only allows four garage doors, so we could only put in one more, a sixteen footer. Located in the middle it works really well in allowing us to pull in, k-turn and back into the spaces.

If you just need to filter the air then you don't need to run the AC. Just run the fan and make sure 80 % of the air is coming back from the space. In fact, you can turn the heat on (if the unit has one) to "filter" the air.

If you meant that you'll run the AC to keep the humidity down then you'll need a thermostat that will measure humidity AND temperature in addition to a humidification section in your unit to keep the garage at the proper levels (and you can still heat the space and remove moisture).

Also, plan on replacing your filters about once per month to reduce dust.

That being said you'll still have lots of dust in the space unless you seal the concrete with epoxy or paint.

The 2002 745i was a complete disaster, it would take pages to tell you what went wrong. They took me out of the lease early and gave me several credits toward the 2005, that made me go for a new one. I loaded this thing up with everything BMW offered. Its got 200 miles on it but sofar, big difference from the older models. Let's hope it keeps up.

Sorry Sean, it did sound as though I meant keeping the A/C on. That and the heat is controlled by thermostat. I meant that the fan is always running and filtering the air.

I don't know what I'll do with the floor yet. I've tended toward epoxy, but I may tile. One way or the other, the floor will be covered. I just didn't realize the size of the room??? has me going.

John...the place looks great. I am sure you had a wonderful time dealing with the town planner. The addition blends in very well with the house. Can't wait to see it in person. John are you going to put a wash bay in with a plastic wall (like a shower curtain) or did they restrict the use of a drain in a garage?

Geez Gus, I can just imagine the garage you would build. No, no wash area, I'm more interested in using it as a room for viewing and parking only.

    We'll get together soon,
