Has anyone seen this new company “Modena Lucerna” offering what is touted as “the best manual conversion” available for the 360/430 platforms? Links to their website, Instagram and YouTube are at the bottom of this post. I could not find any threads mentioning these guys and they just started posting YouTube videos recently.

Curious to see those with first hand experience doing manual conversions, mechanics and engineers on their opinion on these components compared to Dr S/Cambio Manuale and EAG’s latest revision (as apparently they have made up updates to improve feel from criticisms of earlier kits).

Also would like to hear on which original Ferrari components are still worth going through the effort to source since now that supply has dried up quite a bit.

Magnesium tower, hard. line under the car, and a titanium pedal. The kit certainly sounds and looks good.

It sounds like a decent kit. It will be interesting to see how they perform. The main installer they listed and their 480 area code would base them out of Arizona, but they didn't list an actual address.

Any mention of how they’re handling the cluster, or tuning on 430’s?

I must say quite impressed with attention to detail and craftmanship..Mid 13K for the kit is not bad.

Really cool. I don't understand the point of a titanium clutch pedal though. It won't match the factory pedals.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like a waste of titanium, but maybe they're chasing weight savings with their kit having a magnesium tower? It would have been nice for them to just option a titanium pedal set. I'm sure we're not done seeing new entries into this market with each having to find some way to stand out.

I didn't think there were enough cars that potentially could need a conversion to warrant so many versions on the market. We may reach a point of saturation. Don't get me wrong competition is great, but I'm worried that someone may buy a kit, and soon that manufacturer will be no longer in the business and they will be out of luck with support.

Not really any different than the factory no longer making most of the key parts....

Yes but generally we only get one or two vendors making replacement/reproduction parts. It seems every month there is a new player in the 6speed conversion space (ok I know not every month, but every 3 or 4 months).

If the parts are oem spec (Like Dr. S.) they should in theory be interchangeable. This is the 3rd company to officially offer a kit. EAG started years ago.

I thought there was also a Chinese version is being worked on. There is a thread here about it. That would make 4

Love seeing more vendors make the kits, they are only going to get better and fortunately for us cheaper! I do fear that once these companies scale maybe Ferarri will notice and close them down - they are in essence copying Ferarri's IP. Then Ferrari would produce and sell the conversion kits themselves.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't. The going rate for a used oem conversion set is about $25k from the couple ads I've seen. I would imagine that a new one would go for significantly more.

I wouldn't think Ferrari would be in the business of selling conversion kits. The whole principle behind the company is originality. A company that will black list you for simply wrapping a car you gave them hundreds of thousands of dollars for will not likely care one bit to promote modifications on a 20 year old car just to make a few grand.

True. But this is where marketing and the price premium come in. These are original, OEM factory-produced Ferrari parts and IF installed by an authorized Ferrari dealer certified in doing conversions then you can get a Ferrari certificate saying that the car meets all of Ferrari's requirements. VOILA, that will be $100K, thank you for your business!

Ah, Ferrari are too proud/arrogant to offer something like that! They hate their cars being tampered with — their Classiche programme is proof of that lol.

The other issue is, the original gated parts were made under contract/license by Magneti-Marelli, who went under. I doubt Ferrari would invest in the tooling and R&D to start producing these parts again to satisfy a small niche of customers. They’re too big to care for that matter.

Also offering a such a retrospective conversion in house could be interpreted as an admittance of their error for even offering the F1 system in the first place. Ofc they were pushing it as a link to their F1 programme, but tbf the F1 system was a great bit of engineering for its time.

If Ferrari deem it to be sufficiently profitable then they will do it. Money talks. Look at Classiche - money for old rope.

They really did an incredible job of convincing people that paying as much money as possible on service makes your car better.

It is not them ..it is the people who look for it when buying a car that made it feel worthwhile

If everyone thought it was BS ..it would be worthless

I don't buy that the factory isn't at least partially responsible for this mindset. It seems more prevalent in Ferrari than any other brand.
