Ok, check this out....When I put my car in reverse, the reverse lights come on....crazy huh...Well, whats crazier is...that when I put my car in 2nd gear, the reverse lights come on...Anyone care to comment or offer an advice on how to rid myself of this 'reverse light in 2nd gear gremlin'..

P.S. - you should see how it freaks people out that are behind me :)

The switch is at the base of the lever and is out of adjustment-the lever hits it in 2nd gear as well-easy fix.

Actually, we've seen this deal many times, and I think it's always the rubber boot under the shift gate that has come loose from its proper position, or it's torn apart, and it's pushing on the back up light switch when the gear lever is in 2nd. Just remove the two screws that hold the gate onto the console, lift up the gate, and you'll probably see what's wrong. The back-up light switch is right there on the front of the box.

My car did the same thing and it was a worn shift boot. Replaced it and the problem was solved.
