Hopefully they call it the GTO because that will have as much to do with the car as the 488

:) Yes I am slightly bitter about that.

    all joking aside...

Thanks for the info as always

Also add that clients who got the invitation for the 70th anniversary celebrations at the factory (9th and 10th September) would have the chance to preview what will be presenting the day before.

I truly hope they have collaborated with Pininfarina on this car...

Absolutely not. PF with Ferrari is history. Last true PF designed Ferrari was F12 Berlinetta.
All factory in-house design now under direction of Flavio Manzoni.
The successor of the current California T will be the first all new factory in-house design.

Is not the 812 SF first all new factory in-house design?

Yes. I think the new car will be decidedly more sporty both in looks and speed.

It will be nipping at the heels of the 488. But of course will know its place in the hierarchy of the line -up.

812 is really a F12 evolution, like 488 on 458 baseline - so both re-worked Pinin designs, even though much modified.

New GT will be first ground up design from Ferrari Design (and based on new-generation platform) if we exclude of course the limited edition LaFer.

Though I'll wait to solidify my opinion upon seeing an 812 SF in person, I will say from pics it seems more of a de-evolution to the F12.

There will be two versions but in the beginning just one will be presented.

    Not engine-wise.

Ha-ha, true. Let's say then that it's a "Life Cycle Impulse", to use BMW-speak, with no reference to design value.

I've made my comments already in the 812 picture thread - not a fan.

Hope the new GT doesn't try too hard to look like a body-kit car. The Cali, in its original incarnation, was very nicely executed with some original touches even if without a big wow factor. I found it has very clean lines, especially with the too up. Don't like the fiddly details added to the Cali T.

Marcel has provided a tantalizing element to our guessing game: 2 and 2+2 seater variant? Closed and open variants, or coupe and fastback?

Thanks Marcel, i wonder if it might be coupe, then convertible.

Every carmaker does this... Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren, Aston Martin ...etc. Even Mercedes is pushing buyers of performance cars to their current AMG GT coupe/roadster marketing strategy and downmarketing their SL platform.

Ferrari probably laments the fact that buyers of the California weren't really enticed to upgrade because it was initially released as a hardtop convertible. With the coupe, then convertible marketing formula, people end up buying 2 cars, not one.

P.S. KERS or no KERS, I hope they retain the 2+2 configuration. They already have a hot FMR 2-seater coupe.

To me the original cali was to bulbous and Lexus SC430 like. The california T to me is perfect... and oddly enough I think one of the best looking Ferraris made in the last 20 years. I love what the car is and what it represents and I really think as crazy as this sounds... Ferrari took a chunk out of the Mercedes SL market with that car.

Good post, I find myself completely in agreement and not to knock the original Cali but I like the exhaust pipes on the Cali T where, IMO, they are supposed to be. I really don't like either the 458 or original Cali exhaust pipe configurations.

Don't you mean "downgrade", when referring going from a coupe to a convertible? :D

That has to do with the BigYouth (French design firm) created theme/design/look for what they called the "The new GT Ferrari world ecosystem" ( LINK).

I don't think it has anything to do with the upcoming "New" GT.
