Hello everyone. I've been a fan of this site for quite sometime, having absorbed all the info I could until it came time to make a possible purchase for myself.

I've narrowed my search down to the 360CS and the Gallardo. I can be honest in saying that I won't be going to the track at all, so some might think that the CS might be overkill. On the otherhand the reason I'm looking at the CS is because if I go the way of the F car, I would like it to be the ultimate ride. The creme de la creme.

On the other end of the spectrum is the 04~06 Gallardo. I would definitely be looking at an E-gear as I'm already over the "involvement" of manuals. Driven them all my life and figured to give the "paddle" cars a shot. My left leg is already twice as big as the right :)

So here then lies the question, which of the two is the savvy choice? Both are around the same price. I would ultimately use them for weekend drives, not necessarily grocery getters, but if I had to run an errand or two, I would. For sure, no track.

Is the CS too raw? Or is it a great choice over the standard 360? Personally I don't mind the rawness and could go either way (between full on race car like, or something a bit more toned and luxurious hence the Gallardo). I doubt I would go on a 3 hour trip to anywhere far in either of these cars. Does the power of the V-10 win over the "passion" of the CS? Or are both cars on par in all areas of performance?

On a side note, I've driven the '04 Gallardo (6-Speed) but not the CS. The CS's aren't readily available to me for a test drive so I'm lacking behind the wheel experience there. However I have driven an 6-Speed 360.

    Any opinions?

I have both. I enjoy both, but prefer the CS. I'll sell the Gallardo soon and get something newer, maybe the new gt2, or a carrara gt. I will keep the CS for a long time.

Jason, mind if I ask why you're more inclined to get rid of the Gallardo? What year is your Gallardo by the way? What are the "+" and "-" of both cars that led to your eventual decision?

I can only speak to my personal choices. I have a passion for Ferrari in part due to their great history in racing (Lauda and Regazzoni got me hooked). I have also been a huge fan and owner of Porsche for the same reasons, but I was sorely disappointed when they halted factory supported endurance racing a few years ago and built an SUV (saved the company BTW). I like the modern Lambos and have great respect for their design and build quality, but they have no notable legacy in racing and they just don't "boil my blood." You can always take my approach when faced with such a dilemma; buy one now and the other in a few years.......good luck!

the proper designation is CS [no 360], strad works, stradale works

i find the G claustrophobic, with terrible vision,

Just out of curiosity, why not the F430? I think it's more likely to be "creme de la creme" than the CS?

    Anyway, go for a Ferrari!

I didn't want to venture into the $200K+ territory. At that pricepoint I would begin to consider the 430 against the Murcie E-gear 04 models. But again for now I'm trying to keep it $190K or less.

Besides, some here might say that the CS is just as good as the 430?

I like them both and was struggling with a new G-spyder vs. F430. The Ferrari won me over and I'm pretty happy with the resale aspect as well. After driving both I prefer the seats in the Ferrari although the Gallardo seats seem to be better each year. They both are a blast to drive. The Ferrari has better visibility unless you get a G-spyder and have the top down. The G has a lift system so if you can anticipate things you might not scrape. I prefer the exhaust note of the F-car. Maintenance is said to be less expensive with a G.

Hard to go wrong with either marque. You will be in an exclusive club either way and should enjoy it tremendously.

    Good luck!

You're right, the Challenge Stradale is, by all measures, a horribly inferior car. ;)

I've heard from several people that the CS presents one of the best driving experiences out there. One of them previously had a 430 and "downgraded" to a CS, and another has a Carrera GT as well as a CS. Whether or not the upcoming 430 Scuderia will be able to top the CS experience, we'll find out soon. :)

If it's between a Gallardo and a CS, I say go for the CS.

It's not "better"...it's "different". All of them. Early Gallardo's had funky e-gears which could be updated I suppose. And at a certain frequency I heard a cabinet resonance that bugged me. But they are so small and maneuverable that was fun...

The 430 is fantastic and an easier car to drive than the 360. I could use it as a daily driver....that's how easy it is. And great power. I love it.

The CS is an event. Upside: lightweight, tossable (you can't do that in Gallardo, being all-wheel drive) It is not that loud inside except on dirty roads as there is no carpet....so you hear it all. But as you approach you can hear it from blocks away. The way the cars sits is incredible. Perfect. Cars`are cars....but from the day I took delivery I felt somehow "I will never part with it"

Downside? The other two have decent stereos. The CS front end is sooooo low make sure you get skid plates on day#1.....in fact it was the first stop I made. Every driveway and speedbump has to be approached from an angle.

Yeah, but you look and sound so good doing it!;)

I am with Watt, find the G tight and visibility a drag.
The cs cabin, like the 360 offers great vision and shoulder room and just space. And it is one of themost enjoyable rides on the road. Its a romp on every drive. If the car had another 100ft lbs of torque it would be heaven.

Guys, thank you for the awesome feedbacks. I suppose in some ways it's not too unexpected that the majority of the votes goes towards the CS.

Another question I was wondering was which car feels faster by the seat of the pants. As mentioned before, I've driven an '04 Gallardo and an 360, but never the CS. Though I would hardly call the 360 slow, most people here definitely feel that the 360 lacks low end, thus making the Gallardo more "powerful" under heavy throttle. But what about the V-10 vs. the CS? Does the CS still feel "less powerful" than the Gallardo?

When I was looking for a new car a year ago or so, I narrowed it down to a CS and a Gallardo.

I of course saw pros/cons with each. Reasons were...

    - I didnt fit in the Gallardo (Im 6'3..and knees hit steering wheel and head to the roof)
    - Gallardo interior was (IMO) just plain and ugly (although Ive seen it prettied up w/ carbon fibre)
    - Gallardo was bloody fast..but somehow sterile. Fast..but not crazy.
    - Gallardo is really pretty. And the car I was looking at was all black with yellow calipers..just beautiful.
    - The performance seemed 2ndary to the overall sensations and feedback with the noise and vibrations I got in the CS..every drive was(still is) an adventure

    - I bought the CS.
