Hey all...I'm one of the FNGs and wanted to introduce myself. :) Never been a Ferrari owner...but looking forward to it! Maybe it will happen in a few years after I get some things settled. :)

I owned a C5 for a few years and it was tons of fun. Great raw performance for aggresive driving.

I have some questions for you experienced gents. Sorry if they have been posted here before. If so, just kick me. :)

What is the typical dealer profit on a new F (% or $$$)?
What is the paint process? How many coats of color? Wet sand before clear? How many coats of clear?
For 360 and 430 owners, what are the major differences between the 2?
Are there concerns with hard usage of the F1 tranny?
What are the characteristics of the 360 and 430 with regards to under and oversteer?
Where are the major locations of weight (other than drivetrain :))?
What does the steering feel like at higher speeds? Connected to you and precise or drifty?

Any other general comments are appreciated.

Virtually alll the questions you have posed have been asked and answered over time-just check the search. It would take a tome to answer all your questions.

Thanks for the suggestion, but believe me...I've spent more time than I should have.

For example, a profit search will show something such as 10%. But, there is no detail on if that is at MSRP, current market price, loaded, 1 option, etc.

Another example is the paint process....a search will turn up the paint booth but nothing on the type of paint, coats, etc.

I figured a good way to join this board is to find out more about the car(s) itself. It was an assumption of mine that at least some of the people here are interested in those details and would want to discuss it. I'm a car guy and I like talking about that stuff. As for right now, unfortunately, I cannot speak from experience in a F.

Would you be able to comment on any one of my questions in detail? Or more than one? Or should I start a new thread?

For the F1 vs. 6-Speed someone needs to type up a good long answer and make it a sticky.

I can answer a few based soley off of what I have read from other owners:

For 360 and 430 owners, what are the major differences between the 2?
Supposedly they "feel" about the same as far handling goes. Very go-kart like, a very 'connected' feel, very 'darty'.

Major differences I have heard is power, power, and power. The 360 is a fast car, but the 430 is about on par with the F40 in straight line acceleration. The F430 also has that extra torque that the 360 lacked. A very linear form of acceleration now, as power is readily on tap just about anywhere on the rev counter.

What does the steering feel like at higher speeds? Connected to you and precise or drifty?

From all I've read, the faster you go in your ferrari, the better it handles. Nothing drifty about them, very precise, responding to your every input almost immedietly.

    Hope that helps somewhat.
