You want my honest, professional opinion? I'll run it through my shop as soon as we're done with our latest VIACOM resurrection...
Building Diagnostics was created last year when a few of my clients were so fed-up with architects, designers, and engineers were not really meeting eye to eye with the builders. So we started a new division called H&R Duilding Diagnostics Group and what we do is we hire all the engineers architects and designers and build a complete package kind of like a design build. Alot of the owners heard about this and they started using us and what they found was that there change orders were reduced to nothing and we have projects that come in at budget and not over.
Interesting! What type of construction work do you generally advise? Sounds like larger projects since there are both engineers and architects involved. I'm involved in real estate (commercial leasing and investing) which is why I'm curious.
Hmmm... I don't really have a "professional" opinion on this, but although I like the HR cube I don't think the text overlays onto the cube look quite right. Especially on the right side... I get the feeling that it's flying apart. Perhaps a simple matter of the letter orientation, perhaps something more. As I said, I'm not a visual professional just someone who's into aesthetics. And like someone else said I'm not sure what "building diagnostics" is but I don't think a logo that looks like it's coming apart serves the image!
My non-professional but honest opinion is as follows: The 3D H&R logo is great, but the text is getting lost inside. It's also all over the place, so it's difficult to figure out what the name of your company actually is. My suggestion: Keep the 3D H&R, and pull out the text to keep it separate. Very quick mock-ups attached below... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now that I know from what you've written what "building diagnostics" is (and it sounds like a great idea), I would suggest even more so that the image has to suggest harmony, not dissonance. What I'm seeing when I talk about it going all directions, and what I think Udalmia is saying when he says it has too much going on, is your building block being pulled in several directions by the components of the logo. But it sounds like the whole idea here is to have architects, designers, engineers and builders all in harmony making the building work instead of having them be forces pulling the project apart. Again, just my thoughts for what they're worth.
Well, while I was pontificating Noah was actually starting in on a solution that removed the objections I had... nice work! And you can't go wrong with a logo that incorporates "laying pipe" now can you?
Noah's got a good eye for this. I need to get a new logo for my company too. Well at least I know who to ask when it needs to get edited....
