    Help!
I am looking at a Ferrari at Ferrari of Central NJ. The car may have had some very minor paint work done. I just sold a car that I spent years restoring, only to find out it had been in an serious accident that ruined the value of the car and I had been defrauded by the selling dealer many years ago. So I am a little gunshy...

Any suggestions of a trustworthy expert who I could compensate for their time to go and look at the car for me?

    Thanks,
    Bill

I bought my Ferrari CPO from FCNJ. They were generally good to deal with and I came in from out of state to take delivery of my Ferrari.

I was disappointed, however, when I saw the car in person and there were undisclosed rock chips and paint chipping on the engine. when I raised it as an issue, the dealer explained it to me as being “patina” and wouldn’t take care of it, and my deal was take it or leave it.

So yes, good idea for a third party inspection separate from the Ferrari dealer.

The credibility of being a Ferrari dealer means a lot less nowadays than it did in the past.

I'm simply trying to confirm if the car has been in a minor accident. The dealer acknowledges some paint work but claims it may have happened at the factory....
At this price, I'd like a no stories car.

Take it to Wide World Ferrari in Spring Valley, NY and have them do a full PPI.

All good suggestions. I haven't done this recently, but in the past some dealers are hesitant to let the car leave their shop until the money's in their pocket.

I wonder if they would let a professional take a look for you at their shop ? You could see if Tommy Passalacqua of P1 Motorcars could do it. (203) 276-0749‬. He's been around Ferraris his entire life and is a good guy. Sure you'd probably have to pay his time and travel, but it could work out to being cheap insurance. Good luck with your search.

Sadly, I am the 6.0 guy. Expensive lesson. clean car fax, PPI, and an expert I knew from my hometown inspecting it and didn't figure out the accident history. Now at least, no one will ever be defrauded on that car again. The full disclosure on that car is on the internet forever.

I think I've got this covered now. Dave North, ex FCA prez does PPIs in the area and is going to check this out for me.
