    Hi Everyone,

I have seen that a lot of people live in the Tri-State area, but there has not been a fun run or simple relaxing get together in a while.

I am looking to set up a relaxing get together with a short drive, maybe an hour or so, some time to talk, and then dinner.

I live in Northern, NJ in West Milford...around Wayne where RTE 23 meets RTE 287. There are lots of great restaurants in the Paramus area or in Weehawken area depending on who wants to go.

    The down and dirty
Where: In the North Eastern NJ area
When: Sunday the 12th of September depending on when more people can go.
Who: Anyone willing, exotic or not.
How Much: Only the cost of lunch or dinner ($20 up to as much as you want)
What we will do: Three options again.

1.) A nice drive through the winding roads of Northern NJ with a stop at the historic iron mining district of West Milford ending at Ringwood Manor. There are a number of house, furnaces, and things to see. This would be a short guided tour of the grounds and this beautiful Colonial Manor. These mines provided much of the iron to the American Revolution and Civil War, including the iron for the chain across the Hudson River. This would end with a dinner in the Paramus area, El Cid. (A great restaurant known for its amazing surf and turf.) A bunch of great restaurants with a few miles of Paramus. Once done with dinner this a upscale mall, and many upscale shops in the area for shopping
    El Cid
205 Paramus Rd. (bet. Century Rd. & Rte. 4 W.)
    Paramus (201) 843-0123

    Napa Valley Grill
    1146 Garden State Plaza (Rtes. 4 & 17)
    Paramus (201) 845-5555

2.) A nice drive through some country roads and then onto the highway down to the Weehawken area with dinner at The Chart House or Legal Seafood (bad name good Food.) This is less historic, but closer to NYC, which may allow more people to attend. Once dinner is over we will be close to Hoboken and NYC for any follow on fun or an easy out for people to head out on their own.
The Chart House or Legal Seafood (bad name good food)
    Pier D-T (Harbor Blvd.)
    Weehawken (201) 348-6628
A few more place right on the pier!

    Option #3

Something everyone might be interested in is a drive up to West Point on the Hudson River (about 1.7 hours north of NYC.) We would have a few meeting spots one would be the Nyack Mall for NYC people and the other would be Willow Brook Mall for NJ people or at Woodberry Common for NY state people. The ride would have lots of secluded highways to drive on; followed by a walking and driving tour of The United States Military Academy at West Point run by me. (I will bone up on my Plebe knowledge before hand.) Then we will head to Painters Tavern in Cornwall for lunch or Dinner. This is very nice Tavern with an American/French/eclectic menu, with a descent wine menu and a good global beer selection.

This option would be most of the day as the drives will be a little long. West Point is 45 minutes from West Milford, NJ and about 1.5 hours from Willow Brook Mall

This will also make for the best Calendar Photo Backgrounds.

If anyone is interested please PM or email me as I will not be in the States until 3 September. After that you can call me. I will provide a phone number and details on the day once we have a few people willing.

Please reply with what car you plan to bring, number of total people, what option and day is best for you.

    Thanks
    David

No solid plans yet. a lot of interest, but no one has said I will be there or told me which ride would be better for them. Personally it does not matter to me as I have driven and been to all the places before, but it would be nice to do it with a group of people and some exotic cars.

You guys should think about a run to High Point State park and Hawk's Nest (IIRC). The winding cliff like roads of the nest are very adrenaline inducing :D

I doubt the NYC crew will wanna trek this far but if people are up for some serious driving and pictures in the mountains where your car looks like it's in the clouds this is a very cool run.

Many are only going to AC for the day and coming back but still an early run (before noon) is not exactly easy to accomplish. How about a different weekend? The weekend after or before is looking pretty free.

    Guys,

time is yet to be determined. I was not looking at an early start. Even meeting after lunch is fine. Unfortunately this is the only weekend I will be in town as I am on leave and have to go back to Korea a few days later.

This is a very open and relaxing drive and event. It is not going to be run by the clock.

If people just want to show up for the dinner great, just the drive, or just part of the drive that works too.

Isn't that the weekend we're going to London to hang with the UK F-chat crew? What's the word on that?
