Those are beautiful! Where did you get them? Mine have a bit of rust and I'm considering refurbishing VS just outright replacement.

I got these from Eurospares. Part numbers 64119200 (R.H Kick Plate), 64119300 (L.H. Kick Plate) and 62172100 (Rubber Insert x 2).

Refurbishing is tough as its a real bugger of a job removing the old ones. They are super thin and are glued down like crazy. You'll almost certainly half destroy them when taking them off, even if you use a heat gun.

Remember to keep the sealing rubbers!

The newer ones are a very different material. Most definitely thicker and of a far superior quality metal/paint. I didn't glue them in place, some simple double sided tape is all that's required - will make them far easier to remove later if need be.

With the rubber inserts, I used some really handy spray on glue (comes in a rattle can) to coat the bottom of the rubbers before settling them in place. Gave a perfect even coating and no runs.

I far prefer the original matte look over the third-party carbon fibre ones.

Yep I read that link prior to doing the job... It's not entirely accurate. First there's no screw (at least on mine) under the rubber - only 3 across the top. There's also no weather seals across the long side (nor are they needed)...

Second, it doesn't matter how much you use that heat gun - the old plates aren't coming off without irreparable damage - so you're best to just rip them off gorilla style. Mine had a ridiculous amount of glue on them.

Maybe because my car is a 94 things are a little different.

Anyway all looks great now. Very happy to have these installed. Just need to keep them looking good now.

Correct. I had to rip the metal ones out. There’s no salvaging them or any desire to salvage them. They’re being removed for a reason :).

I removed the sills off two cars and was able to save the originals for what it's worth.

A quality heat gun and a long sharp blade, coupled with patience is what it took.
