I have just seen on Ebay that apparently a new Kyosho 1:18 F40 has been released.

Its $90. I've already got a couple of the Bburago F40s...not sure if I need to get this one.

Has this been a highly anticipated model?

What are people's impressions of Kyosho?

Also, i thought Hotwheels had an exclusive on Ferrari models these days. How can Kyosho build them too?

    Thanks in advance.

Kyosho makes very good models. I would compare them to AutoArt; they are definitely much better than Hotwheels. I think Kyosho has an agreement with Hotwheels so that they can make some Ferrari models.

I might pick one up. Kyosho tends to build high quality models. The headlights pop-up, the interior is carpeted, and is very detailed. IMO they are worth the premium over a hotwheels car.

I ended up ordering one. The $90 included shipping.

I just got one at the USGP. Got a great deal on it for $80 (no tax no shipping)
I hate to admit it but I have very mixed feelings about it.
First the good part. It is hands down the best 1:18 F40 ever made.HOWEVER- this is only comparatively speaking. It beats the Bburago, the Hotwheels and the Tonka(Polistil) hands down. The paint is flawless and this is a real achievement considering the yellow color. The doors open with a nice spring load and it has nice side windows. Even the gas lids open. BUT....
My disappointment comes from the fact that I just expected more from Kyosho.
The wheels are crap. They are correct (scale wise) but honestly I like the Bburago wheels better. There are nice blue "anodized" fuel lines, yet there are no lines connecting the oil and transmission coolers in the back to the engine/dry sump. And this from a company that included that very same detail on their 1:43 Enzo. Also (just like on their 1:12) no 4 point harness. It would look so much better with those seats, which by the way slide forth and back. This is why it kind of ticks me off. They made the seats slide and the gas caps open, yet there is detail missing in the engine bay and the emblems on the side(pininfarina) and the hood latches are some kind of prints which are not large enough to cover the indentations made in the body for them. It kind of does not add up.Besides the wheels being horrible the tires have absolutely no markings on the sidewalls.
Don't get me wrong, everyone should have this model in their collection. I would take it over any Hotwheels "super elite". It is just that IMHO Kyosho kind of did not made the model up their standard.

Wow, that looks great. If you get a chance could you post a pic of the engine compartment, and one with the doors open so I could see some of the detail. Thanks in advance.
