    I just replaced my Dell XPS 1710 with a Dell Vostro 17". Although the XPS is several years old I could go up to 1920 by 1200 resolution with Vista. On the Vostro with Win7 I can't seem to go higher than 1600 by 900 (the recommended). Can’t believe the technology has actually decreased in last few years, but the XPS was top of the line back then and Vostro is mid to upper now.

    I know, that is why I have been looking to pay premium pricing for the Alienware or Qosmio laptops. 900 vert is a joke.

    Those alienware machines last forever, I believe were bought at one point by Michael Dell. Go figure. He lives in austin, tx.

    What screen did you specify?

    WXGA+ (1440x900) or WUXGA (1920x1200)?
