Just read a story about new carbon clad DB9 with 600hp v12 and manual tranny. They were able to shave 252Kilos off the weight. WOW, sounds like a real winner to me. Thats a lot of weight to strip off, should be a track monster. They took out the back seat entirely and used racing seats in the front. Anyone have anymore info?

Defeats the point of the car though, kinda useless IMO, nothing like a Care 550LM in any way. The back seats are useless anyways though ;)

I don't really follow your post. Are you saying reducing weight from the car is pointless?? Not by my thinking, lighter the better for handling, performance and maintance from my experience with cars.

Sounds like a beast, but doesn't this intrude on the Vanquish's territory?

Is this a street car or the DB9GT?

If they're making it, one has to assume that it is not a road car.
Intrude? It would do a little more than "intrude."

I think the DB8 will be their best performer as it has the lowest engine & least weight. A light weight big hp version of the DB8 would be awesome :)

The story was in Autoweek I think but I deleted it by mistake. My understanding was a ltwt. street car, like a 12cyl version of the CS.

Just to clear this up so you don't get thrashed to pieces - there's no such thing as a DB8. I'm assuming you're thinking of the V8 Vantage. The DB9 you guys are talking about is called the DBRS9. It's a Prodrive-built version of their successful DBR9 race car. It's being pitched to private race teams. So you won't see one driving around on the streets. Having said that, it doesn't threaten Vanquish territory at all.

Isnt the DBR9 have a carbon fiber tub ?

Does the DBRS9 have a CF tub or the stock aluminum (?) chassis ?

Yes, that's the DBRS9. It uses the standard DB9 chassis (which is incredibly stiff) but most of the body panels are composite materials.

Yes, thats the same material I read, only the DB9 was the focus and 252kilos coming off the standard model. And it was a street car, just like the AMv8 referred to in this story. The story did not mention Prodrive and the work was factory done, so we may be talking about two different cars with the one you, AMDBman are referring to being a more radical race version, while the one I read about was a factory car stripped and tuned like the CS.

Interesting. I havn't heard anything this car yet. Sounds like a cool idea, I'd really like to see such a car be put into production. Factory specials such as the 360 CS and GT3 RS have always seemed interesting to me, it would be neat to see Aston have a go at it.
