Read about it in Road and Track. This car seems to be a updated Acura NSX clone. I was hoping for a V-8. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=10&article_id=6951
As a current NSX owner I like the idea of something similar that's new, since frickin' Acura/Honda doesn't seem to be building it's replacement. I like the photo for the most part. Wouldn't call it a clone though.
Acura's idea of the NSX replacement involves 10 cylinders and front engine placement. I'm sticking with the real deal. My beloved 91. But I'm still on the list for the next Esprit. And this ain't it.
I'm not even sure if that front V10 is for real or if that was just and idea at the time or if it's been scrapped. I'm not conviced at all that there is an NSX replacement coming. Either are the people at NSXPrime. I hear you about this not being the next Esprit (which I loved), but it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to slot in between the Elise/Exige and the new "Esprit" high end car. For what this is it looks nice, but I haven't seen much of it yet. I'm confident that Lotus is on the right path now.
AS said above this definitely is not and never was meant to be the next "Esprit". And it has 2 back seats albeit very small ones. Did the nsx ever have back seats, I did not think so. This is for those who like Lotus, want something a bit different and yet has some more room than an elise or Exige and yet still has the Lotus handling and characteristics. Has a few more luxuries as well, kind of like a luxury GT almost. There are lots of pics of this car around from the London motor show.
i like the gallardo style front end, but the rear seems disproportional to me. other than that, i think it's neat, it'll be interesting to see the final product.
Evo said the V8 should be out in another 1.5-2 years or so. The rumor is it may have the new BMW twin turbo V8 as power. Darrell.
Hate to revive an old thread but the Evora will be at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November from the 21st-30th then it will make its rounds to So. Cal dealers (Symbolic Motors in La Jolla, Newport European and Silver Star in Thousand Oaks). There will be a 2+0, 2+2, coupe, convertible and an S/C version. Paddle shifters will also be available then if everything goes accordingly, we should see the new Esprit a couple years after the intro of Evora.
"2+0, 2+2, coupe, convertible and an S/C version" Available for display at the auto show/so cal dealer network? Or do you mean in the general lifespan of the car?
Limited supplies Fall '09, dealers are taking deposits; dealers are allocated x number of Evoras per dealership.
