Saw the new Lotus Turbo Esprit in November Road and Track. The look is different than what was posted here earlier in CMBP back in July/August. Price is to be at 100k. 400+ hp BMW V-8. I LIKE ! With no real NSX replacement on the forseeable horizon, this looks to be the best 100k mid-engined car.
Is it a "turbo" ?? Or a bmw v8? (don't know of any turbo bmw v8s) Either way, which page was it on? I missed it.
A V8 sounds dog-heavy, not in keeping with Lotus' stated philosophy of low-powered, low-weight cars. Of course, the Esprit turbo has always been the highest powered of the road going Lotuses, but even so, I would expect that power to come from a single or twin turbo 4-cyl or (at most) 6-cylinder engine. Not a V8.
i havent driven really any exotics but i did drive a lotus esprit v8 twin turbo and it was the coolest thing ever. id buy one in a sec..love the peddles..
Page 25, with the R8 on page 29 so you can compare the looks. The pic of the Lotus looks real but who knows. R8 is generated. And yes its supposed to be normally aspirated not turbo.
I'm betting its just an generated image. Next up for Lotus will be the 2 + 2 then the Esprit will arive after that.
