Can’t believe I am posting this but I am actually excited to see this first episode. Thought I would start this thread so we can post reviews. Seriously hoping it doesn’t turn into outlandish superhero/car stunts.
I noticed the title of the episode is “I did see the sunrise” so i’m figuring it’s going to tie in somehow with Ivan one of magnums nemesis’ as the episode where magnum shoots Ivan was titled “did you see the sunrise”. In any case I too am curious to see how they do the show and of course how the 308 figures in. I’m going to give it a few episodes before I decide to like dislike it.
I too am excited to see some new Magnum PI. Hopefully it is good enough to continue to watch and hopefully the 308 remains part of the show somehow. I know it gets destroyed in the first episode but I am hoping for a miracle because that car is by far my favorite of all Ferraris and this show(the original) made it that! It's the only reason I have an 85 308 sitting in my garage.
Let us know over in the UK if any good, and if there is a way/web site we can watch it on over here :-(
I was in front of the TV for the pilot when I was 12 (I saw a preview and though the show was going to have a Lamborghini on it !) so I will be sitting in front of the TV again, 38 years later.
From the preview it looks to be high on action and the characters acting cool. That usually means it's written for the youngsters and has little substance to the content. I think the 308 is toast and will simply be replaced by a 488 or such.
Plausible that one might be able to borrow the 308 from the estate. 488? Emm, not so much. Better chance Magnum would be tossed the keys to the landscapers beat up F-150.
I read one article that said that the "daily" driver will be a Portofino. 'Just doesn't seem very Magnum-like. Given the commercials that I've seen for it I may only give it one episode before I dislike it...depends on how bad it is.
First BIG fundamental mistake with this character. This Magnum referred to his "PI" business... The real Magnum hated "PI", corrected anyone that referred to him like that.
Starts here in 15 minutes. Had to check in just to see what the consensus was LOL Guess I won’t get my hopes up.
Their good friend just died and Rick is dancing to the spice girls, this show blows. Also, too damn many commercials.
I am going to pull an episode from the first season and watch it tonight to try to shake this off. I miss Selleck.
At the end they are heading to the funeral. Higgins is wearing an off the shoulder cocktail dress and they both peel out in the black F-car. Not quite the somber occasion that the rest of us would feel it should be. This writing is such a pile of crap. It's the younger generation I'm afraid. My good friend who has been in the movie business for decades tells me it's like that on every film now. Substance is nearly extinct.
