I think of alfieri as similar to jag f type 2 seater, coupe or cab. Start around $100k. Nothing in ferrari or alfa to compare as it sits in between them

This is making a lot of sense to me...GT with V8 in coupe only. Alfieri as spider with turbo v6 at starting price closer to $100k...ummm...perfect!

I respect and admire the GT, but I don't want a GT cruiser. A smaller "GT style" spider (like my GS spider) would be on my list! I've kept the GS for 6 years because there is nothing I'd rather have (except a Cali, but they are 4-5x the price and no where near 4-5 the car for me)

    A 2003 to 2006 Spyder is a great alternative to a 911 as a summer driver.

True, and they are really cheap. What is the issue that drives them down in price. I have a 6 speed manual that works great( it also has really low miles). Was it the F1 having reliability problems?? I know the F1 has well documented problems.

The Alfieri coupe is a 2+2, the question is will the Spyder be as well or maybe they'll dump the back seats for the top folding and be able to keep a full sized trunk. Or they could do like the 4200 Spyder and shorten the wheelbase.

    Hi,

Porsche claims that the profits from the Cayenne enables it to get more resources for their 'real' Porsches. Given the costs required to keep an automaker viable in this day and age, without real scale, perhaps we should look at this as a good thing to ensure that Maserati is looking at ways to keep the company on its feet and continue supplying the cars enthusiast community wants.

    Just my two cents,

    Ramin

The #1 selling Porsche is the Cayenne, #2 is the Panamera. I'm sure Mecan will come in at #3 and probably eventually at #1.

I don't have a problem with SUV's, I had one and I have two trucks now, but Maserati isn't a GM.

    Hi,

I would bet these cash cows are not only what keeps Porsche in the black, but also enables them to keep the rest of the line (with much lower volumes - comparatively) up to date and true to the Porsche spirit.

    Best Regards,

    Ramin

scares me about quadrupling the production too. Afraid Maserati isn't in the elite leagues anymore.

    Hi Rob,

I agree with you that the exclusivity is being tarnished. But on the other hand, without volume or cash cows (i.e Porsche Cayenne, Panamera et al) how can they survive ? It is trade off between volume and survival. I wonder how Aston Martin will fare during the coming years.

    Best Regards,

    Ramin

maybe, it may work out for us, I'm not interested in Maserati for fun cars, but am interested as a sporty DD for wife that is much less common than a Mercedes or Porsche.

Well, I'm interested in Maserati for "fun cars", so it definitely matters to me... and, I suppose, some others too :)

Right, and Maserati will never be GM. They are planning to sell overall 75,000 units per year in 2018, this with five models. IMO still a very exclusive brand.
