Hello all, I've been a forum member for a month or so now and this past weekend I took delivery of a 1995 348 Spider from forum member cscott67. He made the long haul out from Wisconsin, dropped off the Ferrari and picked up my Factory Five AC Cobra replica.

I've spent the last couple nights pulling parts off the interior of the car to send out for repair/resurfacing (plastic parts and a seat belt), got a new battery for it, new struts for the engine hood, new shift boot, etc. I don't plan on autocrossing it, so the roll bar is coming out this weekend.

Anyway, the car is going in for its 30K service in February and I just was looking for some feedback. I met with Steve Olford at Aston Martin of NE and Darin McCoy at Boston Sportscar. I was very impressed with both so I'm having a hard time deciding where to go!

I'm not looking for anyone's name to get dragged through the mud, just for your personal experiences and anecdotes if you don't mind sharing.

    Thanks, Mark

ps. here's a cellphone picture of how the car is sitting right now.

No experience with Aston Martin or Steve Oxford but I do highly recommend Independent Ferrari Service in Easton, MA. John Tirrell is the owner and has extensive experience with 3x8s in particular as well as pretty much everything else. He has a true passion for these cars including owning and racing them for many years (about 40 if I am not mistaken). Good crew there too.

    I vote for Steve.
He has managed the servicing of my car exclusively under my ownership and previously to my purchase while he was employed by Ferrari of New England and now at Austin Martin.

I can tell you that he knows his stuff. He has been in the industry for a very long time and I have never heard a negative remark about him which in this community is remarkable.... He is highly respected in this area.

I could give you many examples of where he has treated me very fairly and where his advice on the proper
maintenance of my car has been valuable.

I recently had an engine skip problem with my car. I had it delivered to Steve at AMNE and was very pleased with the quick diagnosis, repair and pricing.
Incidentally, while I was there there were quite a few much more valuable F cars being serviced.

My recommendation would be to do your homework. This thread is a good place to start. Finding the right guy and organization is important.

We are fortunate that we have a number of options here in the North East. Most of them are equally adequate.

Take some time and visit with him, and others on your list and make an informed decision.

Thank you, yes I look forward to some cruises this summer for sure. I'm not such what to expect from the Ferrari crowd, but everyone on this forum seems very supportive and nice.

I was all set to go to Steve at Aston Martin of NE, but happened by Darin and was very impressed with his shop as well. Its smaller than Steve's but I liked the feel of it.

You are indeed fortunate to be located in an area where a Plethora of extremely capable service facilities exist. I personally had a wonderful experience with Steve when he was at FoNE and would trust him without hesitation. I also have second hand knowledge of John Tirell, Dave Fineberg (fastradio here at FChat) and Darin McCoy and have never heard a discouraging word from anyone that has used them. In all cases, these guys say what they do and do what they say with an extremely high level of professionalism.

BTW....Nice spider. Gotta love the Nero.

I have known Steve for 3 ,years now and there isnt anyone else I would take my F car to for service. Simply put Steve is the best, not only does he know F cars but he's a great person to deal with on any issue. My F car is with him right now for a battery and a few minor items before I ship it south for the st of the winter. He is coordinating the shipping for me with a trusted company. He has the answers, and always treats you more than fair. A great guy.

One other point about Steve is that he is still very connected to his friends at Ferrari of New England, and has a great relationship with Ferrari Corporate. This is very valuable, especially with the more modern cars where electronic diagnosis is necessary.
