Hi everybody. I'm Craig, and I just joined this forum to find my dream car. In the next year i'll be searching for a nice 550 driver. I would love one like wolfturbo just found. That car is gorgeous! I've never had a Ferrari, but I do drive a 12 cylinder car. And to me V12 Ferrari's are the ones to have as a "forever car" I live in Victoria, BC, Canada. There isn't a lot of Ferrari's here, and only 1 550 that I have seen. There are lots of questions, but I'm sure they will all be answered in time. I look forward to learning and appreciating these awesome cars with you all Craig
Hi Craig, Welcome and good luck with your search. Nothing like a V12 Ferrari and the 550 is a great choice, classic looks with plenty of power............pure style. Plenty of great information on the forum with lots of knowledgable people. Don't be concerned with parts availability, I live in Australia and get my parts from either Ricambi or Eurospares out of the UK, prices are substantially lower from these suppliers that the local Ferrari dealer. Again, all the best in your search.
Hello Craig I bought a 575 last year. As a fellow Canadian , I know what challenges there are in obtaining the car you are seeking. I think the V12 will make it worth the effort. I spend a lot of time in California and looked at a lot of cars here. Much more choice than Canada of course but the costs associated with bringing one of these cars across the border is VERY high. I would suggest you focus on Canadian cars or US cars that have already been imported (mine was imported). CAN$ is very weak right now which makes things much worse. I had pretty much given up and was at a dealer looking at my second choice , a 997 turbo. I told him of my fruitless 575 search and he mentioned that he knew someone that had one and might consider selling it. He selflessly put me in touch with him and the rest is history. My point is , get the word out that you are looking for one and you might get lucky. Good luck with your search.
Thanks everybody. I'm certainly at the very first steps of finding my bucket list car. Financially it will be a solid 12 months before a can be in a position to park one in the garage. But I know enough that these aren't just sitting on lots waiting for me. So I can spend the time looking, learning and appreciating what awesome cars they are. Hope to see you all on the road one day soon! Craig
+1 on getting the word out. If I told you how I got mine and the money I have in it - you wouldn't believe me.. Also, get one in the next 6 mos. Don't wait a year or obtain a small loan and then pay it off in 6 mos. Life is too short and I feel the same. A 550 is a 'forever car'. Best wishes talk soon. PM me if you wish to talk further on the phone.
How about this question. Am I in the ball park for a nice car with the factory accessories around $85k US? I better find out if what I hope to spend will get me what I want. Prefer an unusual colour, doesn't have to be ultra low mileage, no aftermarket radio, you know something to hang on to for the long run I plan on a drive across Canada east to west one day to celebrate Craig
Including updated service. Many on the market are in need of at least a belt change. Plan on an extra $6. Usually a belt service is less than $3; but always something else.
Anybody have opinions on this one? https://www.globalautosports.com/car/2001-Ferrari-550-Maranello-Coupe-65747%2Ehtml What stuff should come with the car? I've heard they came with a car cover, and a couple different keys (still confused about that) A set of luggage would really complete it for me, especially since I plan on at least one mega trip with the wife Craig
i'll buy lunch if u can find that seller........ not sure why its still on there. nice 575 are all over and cheap
