    Thanks guys.

    Bill:
I got the car through Bobileff, but it was in New Jersey. Gary and I went out to inspect the vehicle. That might seem a bit exotic, but there is no way I am buying a car like that without an expert looking at it, and I never buy a car unless I see it first. As you may know, Bobileff is one of the probably three top Miura mechanic/restorer experts in the country, so him giving it his OK was essential for me to do the deal.

How is that crass? Its a simple question.Pull the stick out of your ass.I didnt ask what HE paid for it nor did I expect an influx of smartass answers.I simply asked how much does a car like that ie.in that condition cost. You know,in case Id like to buy one some day? There, better? Sheesh.

I did not mean to be crass or disrespectful, rather it was since I want to buy one as well, and was wondering for my personal records so that I know their acutal trading prices.

the car is sweet!!!. Someone said it before but there are not many cars that photograph as well the Miura. Its funny and don't take this the wrong way, sometimes I feel it actually looks better in pics than sometimes in person - either way it is still outstanding.

I'm interested in what you thought of the two Miuras Bobileff has for sale, and why you chose to buy this one over them.

Congratulations Alberto. That's one SWEET set of wheels. That's one on my acquisition list as well. I was fortunate enough to be able to drive one a few years back at one of the auctions in Monterey. The drive was from the inspection area to the door leading into the auction room. I still remember the chaise lounge seating position and the butterflies. The ones in my stomach, not the ones in the Webers. All I could think about was not stalling the engine in front of all those people. I'll never forget it.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Manny

The black one was sold within a week or so of it being posted on Gary's site, and in fact, before he received it at his shop. The car has now left Bobileff's shop to the new owner. Gary restored that car at some point and also had this car for sale previously (that's where the posted pictures came from). Apparently, one of the previous owners always regreted selling it and bought it back when it became available again. I never really had a chance to buy it.

The one I bought is the red one that's posted on his site.

I looked at the black one in detail while it was still at the shop. I believe both cars are generally in comparable condition, each having strengths in different areas. My perhaps admittedly biased opinion is that my car is just slightly better overall, but not by much and it depends on your emphasis. The paint on the black one is better (believe it or not; the paint on my car is about 14 years old and has a flew flaws that I intend to address), but my interior is much better. Mechanically, I did not drive the black one, so I don't really know. The engine on my car was completely redone, with the split sump done by Bob Wallace, about 2000 miles ago, or so. I did not ask Gary to compare the two cars' drivability, but I suspect he thinks the black one is slightly better because he upgraded it to SV suspension. Having seen what needs to be done for that, I would not do that upgrade to my car. There's too much cutting and reinforcement for my comfort, but to each his own and maybe it does make the car handle better. In the end, I was not interested in buying a black Miura anyway, and seeing as both cars are similar in condition, etc., it worked out for the best.

    Need4speed:
You did better than I did. I stalled the car a couple of times test driving it.

    Tifosi:
No problem. I think it looks equally beautiful in pictures and in person. If you ask me, I think it's the most beautiful car ever made in pictures or in person.

Miura is by far the most magical, mistycal and hence most beatiful car ever.
    it's a crying shame they only built 700. it's all Countach's fault.
Did I mention my daughter's name is MIURA (pure artistic beauty)

    Alberto,

Congratulations on your new purchase. Looks like we have a lot in common as far as the cars we own. Below is a photo of mine. Feel free to PM me if you have questions on the Miura.

    Gil,
Even in dried polish it was still magnificent. BTW, if you're successful in the concours, I deserve a little credit, since I suggested to the detailer that you'd let him keep it for a weekend if he did a good job.

I'm another miura owner. Here is mine: www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Miura/MiuraSV/4870.html , the Ex-Shah of Persia, SV, 4870.

I think I met you in the midst of your negotiations. I flew down to look after Bobileff's ground up restoration of my 5000QV. (the car is one of the 12 north american 455hp downdraught webber QVs, and happens to be the Ex-Alpine Corporation car.)

Did the seller honor his 10k discount? Glad you got the car!! That appeared to be a close one.

Have a blast, and for goodness sake, drive your investment!!!

Alberto: I'm actually kind of glad to hear that you don't plan on doing the SV rear suspension upgrade - I'm sort of a purist, and I think these very early cars should be kept as original as possible (with maybe the exception of the split-sump treatment, which speaks towards reliability). But I guess I'm just a sentimentalist!

Yes, we did meet at Gary's place. Turns out the guy that sold it is a great guy and did honor his word. Let me know if I can help in anyway with respect to your car while it's here in San Diego and I'll do my best. I am intending to drive my car as much as I can, don't worry. If you get back into town drop me a line and we'll hook up, I'll show you the car.

    Badapple:
    I am very lucky.

    xs10shl:
I agree with you and is the main reason I am trying to find out more about the differences in between the early cars and the later ones. I don't want to change anything thinking it came that way when it did not.
