Why are the axles so wrong? Should be rubber boots and instead there is this strange bolt arrangement. And gearbox is too simplified IMO ... makes you wonder what else has been compromised.

Hope it's cheap.

does anyone ever have any finished pictures of the 1/12 Hiro kits? I'm thinking of buying a 917 kit, but would like to see a fully completed - painted model?

I just ordered a 1/12 917K, the 1970 LM winner. Someone already posted some good links to a WIP and finished models. This is my first MFH kit

 

Those are some very nice builds...

 

Have you thought about a magnetic polisher to finish all of those lovely white metal parts? Not cheap and certainly not essential but it will speed up the process quite a bit.

 

I have heard of these types of techniques. Being an "old School" builder I don't see how it could remove the casting seams...those are the main time killer. The polishing part is easy to do by hand.

 

Yes - mold lines and so on are not going away in a magnetic polisher but they do impart a lovely finish even in all the nooks and crannies. Nothing hard about finishing by hand - but the time saving can be very big with the polisher.

I would caution you, that if you are used to building plastic kits there is a lot more work that goes into building a MFH kit. They make beautiful builds, but they are not as easy as Tamiya, Fujimi, etc.

 

+1 what pawl said; I'm building the MFH Lotus 79 for two years now; there are over 1,0000 rivets in the chassis tub and I have used all the profanity words I know, plus made up some new ones:

 

Its like any other change in materials. Just take time doing proper dry fitting and think in advance.
