Yah - I saw that - and funny how the meaning of "moot" changed years ago. Just one of my (many) pet peeves... and I HATE it when I catch myself making the simple mistakes of their/there where/were etc which I NEVER used to do before social media.

WHITEBOX - ALFA ROMEO - DUETTO SPIDER 1600 1966 in 1/8th scale. This came as a subscription kit via news stands in Italy. It is now offered fully assembled from White Box.
They have several other cars including an Aston Martin, Jaguar, Ferrari and another Alfa Berlina along with a FIAT 500. They might end up for sale built like this if the big scale collectors are lucky. I own a 1750 boat tail and can say this is not bad.

I don't know if it's the build but it looks die cast and clunky to me. The tire markings are hideous.

    Peter,

Are your comments regards the MFH 156/85 model?

Perhaps a little unfair. After all you are one of the top model car builders in the world (You are) and very, very few of us can get close to your standards. Even a factory MFH model will not be up to your standards.

Me, I have trouble just getting an MFH model together, let alone dealing with the level of detail and skill you put into a kit build.

Thanks for the compliment. I simply stated my interpretation of what I see in the photos of the factory build. I am not convinced from the MFH photos that they gave it the attention it deserves. I had the same feeling about the 126-C2. I imagine with some tweaking it has potential but I won't know for sure until I have a kit in my hands. At that time I may change my opinion...we'll see next week.

One thing to consider is the fact that the design of the F1 cars during this period was not at a high point. The 156/85 was probably one of the clunkiest designs to come out of SF. Perhaps that is contributing to the die cast appearance.

Based on the image below, the tire markings appear to be in scale, if a little too new looking. Some weathering should make them more realistic.

    Just a thought.

As I said it could be the build and a close associate agrees. Personally I prefer to create a build that is more realistic and will need to see the actual kit to make a final determination. Should have them later this week.

The thing that hits me is that the front of the side pods on the Hiro model seem to be a bit over simplistic where the actual car has some very subtle roundness to the edges. I'm sure this is very difficult to produce in a scale model. That being said what do you feel are the most accurate large models?
