I just received my three 365P2 (Filippinetti, Maranello Conc., and Franchorchamps) kits from Fisher and they do look great as usual. Same high quality castings and very close to perfect shapes as can be expected from them. Highly recommended, if you are not one of those who need engine parts to make kit a high quality one. -Niko
Experienced modelers can make a very detailed 365 P2 using chassis and suspension components from a Fujimi 330 P4 and an engine/suspension kit from Historic racing miniatures (Harold Bradford), altough it is necessary to modify a little bit the fuel induction components. I have done it with Ed Cervo (Island Collectibles) 330 P3 Spyder and will surely do it again with Paul Fisher excellent 365 P2.
This info on the coming Academy Daytona Coupe is from a reliable source, Ed Sexton, who is a long time model company insider. "The model will not be the Superperformance version. It was just a picture we could use for the catalog. The model will be patterned off of the 1965 cars. They will be a complete kit with full engine and chassis detail. Parts breakdown similar to an all new Revell Monogram kit The final price has not been set, but hopefully it will only be a little higher than an all new Revell kit. This is the target. It is being researched and designed here in the USA. We are also in contact with Pete Brock to answer questions."
I hope they get it right!! Ed was smart enough to always research and ask for information and help when doing kits at Monogram/Revell. I just want to share with you the message I received yesterday from Harold Bradford (Historic racing minitures) : " Gilles: Just wanted you to know that the TDF is ready whenever you would want one. The price is $110.00. I appreciate your support of my products over the years.Best regards. Brad " I have no photo of this model, but I am sure Tom Tanner will show us one. "Also a suprise new Ferrari kit will be at the Ferrari Expo. It was not done by me and is very limited. I will only have a couple to sell." Hi Tom, Any hint as to this surprise kit??? I'd be interested. Thanks
I have been asked by the model maker to not say. I will have one at the Ferrari Expo 2010 for sale. It is $$expensive$$ and very good quality. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2010 model/photo contest-Chicago April 24th 2010
Unfortunately I can't make the Expo. Can you at least say what scale? 1/43, 1/24, larger? If the kit is available after the Expo is done I'd still be interested. Thanks!
The new HRM 250 1957 TDF winner in 1/24th. Not bad at all, but no photoetch or decals. The wheels are 15 inch but should be 16 inch. I like the Englebert tires. They are molded in hard black resin and are not soft. To be honest, I don't see how this is any better than Model Cars kit which is this kit modeled after. Maybe few things corrected on the body, few new details for the interior, ok, but other than that....The only positive thing is that this kit is finally available again.
If I understand well, Steve Devaux (Vintage racing miniatures) will offer decals for this model separately. Considering the usual very high quality of VRM decals, it will be possible to build a very satisfying model adding a set of Model Factory Hiro wheels.
