true, I'm always thinking in terms of 1:24 ...it can certainly be an expensive hobby!

Remember that, for all intents and purposes, that a 1/12 model is four times the size of a 1/24 one.....

1/24 definitely has the advantage of the wider selection and the lower prices but I prefer bigger models as IMHO they look better on display. No disrespect to smaller scales, that's just my opinion. If there were any decent F1 models in e.g. 1/10 or 1/8 I'd be going after those.

very true, I ran a pole in the AF forum, and really it boiled down to builders vs. collectors, and price point vs. larger size

    Sneak preview

PS: Before anybody comments on the beautiful front wing. That's a separate piece I bought already finished because the original was useless.

    LOL

It sure is. It is from that company that makes 1/12 front wings. I never quite understood why anybody would care to collect only front wings, but whatever. It suited my purpose. The same company btw also offers this car complete in 1/12 as a diecast. It is drop dead gorgeous but will set you back at least 2k. Compared to that this model is still a bargain. :)

PS: I also bought the 2013 Ferrari F1 from CMM. Haven't received it yet, but if the front wing is again a disaster, I'll simply do the same trick again. By now I have found enough parts suppliers to come up with a decent model. :)

It is really looking like Aoshima will do a 1/24th scale Mclaren F1 GTR just like Fujimi as they are throwing out alot of hints. I think Aoshima has been working on this kit for awhile and Fujimi found out. They do love to copy each other.

The 1/12th Ferrari model looks very nice Andreas. Back to new models.

    Thanks, sorry for the hijack.
Just today I got confirmation that my 1/12 84 F1 Ferrari has been shipped from CMM. Will post some pics when I get the kit.

Ok, this one is for the insane. It is a 1/8th scale Alfa Duetto from Hachette of Italy and is available only by subscription in Italy. You get a few pre painted parts every few days that you will have to assemble into this very detailed model. Try ebay or if you have a friend in Italy maybe they can get the parts for you. Good luck.

I had seen this before listed as coming, but thought they had made a mistake on the scale. It's true, Tecnomodel are doing an Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS kit in 1/24th scale. Did not see this coming as they mostly do builtups in 1/43rd and 1/18th now. Master pictured below.

and were thinking about ordering upgraded wheels from me. The model needed a lot of improvement - did not look as good as the Alfa just shown. So.... I was close to signing on, but decided not too, though if it had been in my favored scale of 1:12 then I would have. I know what you mean about supply of all the assemblies; that could be a BIG problem. I was going to have one of my friends in France order and push to get everything.

Look back a few pages. A company called Ditech from Germany makes a pretty good resin slot car body of this car in 1/24th scale. I have it already and although it did have alot of flash it does look like the car.

I have the Ditech Abarth 205 also. It's a little too wide and has a few other areas that need to be corrected but for such a lovely car, it's work I will gladly do. I saw the red with black roof car at Amelia Island Concours several years ago. Quite stunning.

Here is a photo of the Ditech Abarth 205 GT body in 1/24th scale along with the Ditech Maserati GT3. Both required alot of cleanup.

Below that is a photo of three wonderful Fernando Pinto 1/24th scale kits. They are the BRM P57 1962, Porsche 804 1962 and Cooper T51 1959. They are very well done and require almost no cleanup. Can't wait for the Vanwall VW5 he is doing along with the Mercedes 300SL Lemans 1952 kit he just released in 1/24th. This guy has alot of talent and the bodies are almost perfectly shaped and cast. You will love these kits as he gets the details correct, although they have very little photoetch. He casts the metal parts into the resin on the suspension. Amazing work cast by a true master.

Aoshima is doing the long tailed 1997 Mclaren F1 GTR in a 1/24th scale plastic kit!!!

Found this shot I took at Sebring in 1997 at the FIA GT race of the Gulf car(2 entered in the race along with 2 werks team cars). These cars were very loud and sounded great considering they ran BMW V12 motors. The british style exaust may have helped:)
