You know Rob and Raptor and Wayne, this whole thing with Allan Lambo points to a troubled personality on his part. Apparently with way too much time on his hands!

What type of person comes aboard in a community as a constant agitator and instigator? Rob is correct, he's in the middle of every cat fight we've had lately, and as someone noted the negativity is REALLY making it hard for those who are trying to use the board for it's intended purpose.

I like a break from the tech and such, and sneak a peak at a lovely lass to brighten up my day as well. But Allan and Nibbles make EVERYTHING an "in your face" experience, and frankly the constant acrimony gets old after awhile.

If your married to the wrong person, get busy with a divorce. If you don't have anything good to say about Ferraris and the fans who love them,...

WHAT THE HEL_ IS HE DOING IN HERE???????????

I can't believe your patience has lasted this long.

<<I will defend my right to alien sex pictures >>

Their thin-skin adds to the pleasure ;)
Hard to ignore, yet no need for butt-plugs.
BTW, the Aliens thread was a link to decorated 'beavers', no? Posted on other forums, so would seem to fit the no frontal request. Or not. Discuss.

Watch the movie 12 Monkeys and then come back and re-read your statement.

Internet.. telephone lines... what is the difference. I stopped taking the Internet and anything on it seriously when I was 15.

""Insanity oozing through telephone cables. Oozing through the ears of all these poor sane people, infecting them! Wackos everywhere, plague and madness."

""You know what crazy is? Crazy is majority rules. Yeah. Uh."

""Sorry, uh sorry. I- I- I got a little agitated. The thought of, uh, escaping crossed my mind, and suddenly, suddenly... suddenly I felt like bending the ****ing bars back!"

    Free your mind

and one last thing.... for the kids here.

Yea, I've read that alot on here. "It's just the internet...blah, blah, blah..we are nameless faceless anonimous entities... what does it matter?"

Well wise up. Rob Lay, Maranelloman, myself, FCA members and a host of others are not. Our names and activities related to Ferraris in the public eye eventually might place us face to face in the REAL WORLD, and I for one would not want to be guilty of behavior here I would be ashamed of in a later situation.

"Ding dong Allan's banned, which old witch?, the Lambo witch" as sung by a "Common308Owner", who has NEVER owned an MR2.

He should be ashamed to be banned on the same day as Lamearossa! LOL
They definately share similar personality profiles, where's that "attention whore" pic, brother Dave?????

    Sorry, Sunny.

Both the cable TV lines and telephone lines stop short of my dome tent!

Is this a good movie? I'll have to rent it. My mind barely fit back in the LAST time I freed it, back in '79 or so!

I'm not such much for "majority rules" as I am for a "minimum of decorum".

I haven't been here too long but let weigh in on this point....

In some oddball twisted way, Allen is kind of liike a porn filter that companies put in place on their networks. The key difference is that Allen seperates the crappy, shot with a disposable camera, discount bin "I want to crack rocks and a big mack" naked, slutty girls from the "I am not doing this unless I get $5000 and an two eight balls of coke" slutty girls.

I don't even want to imagine the strech marks and other things his eyes have seen while doing his filtering.I think he provides a valued service to many.

Overall, Allen strikes me as an alright guy. He just likes to spar with people here and sometimes gets a little too serious. But it happens. He's human.

Basically, as stated already, if you don't like him, ignore him. If you don't like seeing naked women, skip them.

I never said ban it (porn), just wanted to understand why people felt it necessary to being it in here.

I love women. Beautiful things (in the most part). Just don't see a need to view them on a screen (though I guess some people just can't cut talking to the real thing).

Which isn't to say others shouldn't, I just don't see why they would seem to be incapable of finding a decent source of material somewhere other than a chat room about Ferraris!

As for Allan, I do generally ignore his stuff. He's an irritating knob jockey whose sole purpose is to irritate, and as such I guess he can consider himself a great success in life. I do think that some of his posts cross the line though.

And this is not good for the image of the site or its sponsors. And that's not good for what this site set out to be.

I'm not an out and out fan of censorship. But frankly, your 1st amendment blows too.

Vindictiveness and petty arrogance are not attractive anywhere, and if we all took better stock of ourselves every now and then, the world might be a nicer place right now. And it's no good trying to say that these threads don't add to the mix - it's all endemic with the "couldn't give a ****" society that the US and UK are falling into.

FWIW Rob, well done on making a stand. It's a sound message to be giving and I salute you for doing it. Will be sorting out a subscription anon.

PS I don't have kids either, but I can fully appreciate why minors might want to browse the site, and can fully understand why parents might get upset that an ostensibly grown up, Ferrari oriented site shouldn't degenerate. Maybe a means of flagging posts as unsuitable for minors, and being able to block them would be wise.

Wow....I reply to a post and then read through the rest of the thread. While I do understand that Allen has always kind of been an SD(Sh** Disturber), I have, for the most part, always been entertained by him, although I can understand why others may not have been. Oh well. Not my circus to run...

Allan was weighed with the most accurate of scales - that which weighs the true measure of a man - his character.

All I and numerous others ever did persistently with Allan - was vainly attempt to open his eyes to his own character flaws. He refused, all the while treating Ferrarichat like it was his own little fiefdom, where the vast majority of members were treated like his lesser mortals.

To that end, he's currently undergoing therapy -through the magic of audio-visuals, that which he heaped upon others is now fully realized, only it is foisted upon him instead. In so doing, his character is his own punishment - fully revealed to his own eyes and mind, so that he may have the self-control to not need Moderators.

A lot of the people in this thread seem to be missing the whole point of moderation on F-chat. Let me explain my point-of-view...

First, moderation here is absolutely NOT about avoiding things that we personally don't like, NOT about enforcing one point of view, NOT about preventing banter among friends (or even enemies), NOT about elimination of porn, NOT about any sense of censorship.

Rather, moderation of F-chat is about:

    1) Retention of Ferrari gurus and owners. We come here for knowledge and stories and background and so on about... Ferraris! If those people don't enjoy spending their precious time here, then we *all* lose. (At least all Ferraristi here lose.)

    2) Retention of Ferraristi. Some of the best threads are those about "first-time" rides... or those expressing the joy of Ferrari ownership... or the pre-owner worship of the cars. For some its inspirational; for some it reminds us of our younger days; for some it helps refresh the passion.

    3) Retention of Sponsors. To attract sponsors, F-chat needs to have a hook. Our hook is an abundance of Ferrari owners and future Ferrari owners. If we allow horny pubescents to overrun the site, filling it with porn content that the sponsors do NOT want to be associated with, then why would any pay money to sponsor it? How many horny teens are going to buy Ferrari engine parts? or bring their Ferrari in for service?

    4) Preservation of great Ferrari-related threads. Many a great thread has been absolutely destroyed by trolls (such as Mako and Allan) joining into them and posting argumentative $#it. For example, go into any great thread about Ferraris, and post a reply saying "You are all crazy... those cars are dogs... the Gallardo runs circles around them and costs less." The ensuing defense of Ferraris and the points they were making will cause the thread to de-generate into a load of useless bickering... wholly redundant with dozens of similarly destroyed threads. Sure, you may enjoy the troll's wit in the ensuing argument, but the topic of the thread is lost.

Most Ferrari owners are busy professionals (they need to make money to support their Ferrari habit). If F-chat becomes too overrun with thick-skinned people bickering and other non-Ferrari-related posts, then the Ferrari people will start to go away. That will further dilute the Ferrari content here, and then more will go away. And so on... until F-chat dies.

And don't tell me I'm being over-dramatic... there are many examples of this exact pattern happening over and over. Great sites are born, they grow, they lose control, they get overrun, the core people leave, the site sucks for evermore.

And ignore is not a solution. Its helpful on an individual basis... but if the thread degenerates from the bickering, the thread is lost, ignore or not. If a forum degenerates by being full of degenerate threads, then all is lost... and the Ferrari gurus and Ferraristi will stop wasting their time here wading through all the junk to find a few morsels of good content.

Moderation is about preservation of a Ferrari-loving community with lots of interesting and enjoyable Ferrari content, making it appealing to Ferrari sponsors. Friendly banter is good... it fosters community. Opposing views is good... it adds interest. Pics of pretty girls is good... obvious reasons. Minimal moderation is good... for many reasons.

But when off-topic posts destroy threads... its better to delete the destructive posts and to preserve those threads. It doesn't matter whether its the troll or the thin-skinned people responding that is the bigger problem... the off-topic bickering simply needs to be stopped or removed so that the on-topic thread can continue.

Similarly, when members incessantly place such destructive posts... its better to ban such users, even if their posting is "innocent", than to lose a bunch of the Ferrari gurus, Ferraristi, and Ferrari sponsors.

If Allan is gone, don't feel bad for him... he participates on dozens of forums like ours... he's not a Ferrari-lover... he's a car-forum-troll... and you can find his humor, wit, and info on numerous other forums. Better he leave Fchat, than him chase away Ferrari gurus, Ferrari owners, Ferraristi, and Ferrari-oriented sponsors.
