I took my top to my local top guy and he got the existing top to work 100%.

The top had been stored for so long that it was about 1" from closing. After one day in his shop, it closes perfectly and looks great. Only minor flaw was a wear spot that he patched.

I closed the top myself today for the second time. First time took me about 30 minutes. Second time took about 5 minutes. I am sure that I will better that time with practice. My plan is to leave the top closed when I am parking it overnight. I don't want it to shrink again!

If anyone need a great and reasonably price cab top guy in Dallas, send me a PM.

Sounds like your guy did a great repair job!

But...if you have that problem again, just soak your top with water. It'll often close while wet when it won't close when dry due to shrinkage. Then just let it stay closed for a while to stretch it back out.

Good advice. I plan to keep it closed except for weekends.

Steam helped loosen the fabric. Same concept as water. Thanks for the advice.

The top is not quite like my former 993. But neither is the fcar.
