    German magazine "Bunte" interviewed Schumacher:

    http://www.motorsport-aktuell.com/automobil/schumacher-stellt-klar-kein-vorzeitiger-ruecktritt-3700431.html

A couple of interesting comments by him:

"Mit einem vorzeitigen Rücktritt kann ich nicht dienen."
He is saying that he has no intentions to quit before the 3 year contract is over.

"Um Platz zehn zu fahren, macht keinen Spaß."
He states that it is no fun to race for 10th position. He wants to race for the podium.
This goes against the argument made by some on here, that he did his comeback as an alternative way of spending his retirement and is having a great time just participating.

Thanks for the article. I'm glad he's aiming to overcome the losses.

It was me who made that argument and you've misrepresented what I said. I never said he was happy in 10th place or that he was just doing it for fun and didn't care about results. I said that not being in 1st place is not a reason to retire. That metric is singularly applied to MS. If not being 1st was such a reason, there would be 20+ drivers you'd be calling on to retire :)

I wasn't thinking about you and I actually agree with your argument.

I just never bought the argument that he is happy enough just being part of it. Which is why I believe he throws in the towel if the car doesn't improve. But so far he has been proving me wrong. :)

schmacher is a winner. i never once doubted for a second he was complacent running in the top ten. I'd love to see him win just one more race before he finally hangs it up

My ears must have been burning from something else then ;)

I think MS is a driven guy who wants to win... I just never got the arguments that he needs to beat Nico every time or else retire. I can't think of anyone who has proven themselves more and is more deserving of a drive than Schu. On the list of "who does and doesn't deserve to be in F1", he's at ahead of at least 20 of the guys on the grid at the moment :)

He had the car as an excuse in 2010. He helped develop the car in 2011, and look at his results so far. And he's not getting beaten by Nico every once in a while, but EVERY freaking time, except when Nico DNFs. He made the same mistake as a ton of athletes, thinkning they can turn the clock back, and be champions forever until they want to. He's one more example that strategy rarely pays off. He'd have been better off in every respect (yes, including financially IMO) if he had stayed retired. He's making more money now than retired for sure, but re-retiring as a loser means no more endorsements; something I'm sure he'd have kept for many years to come otherwise. Who knows. But part of being the best includes knowing when to call it quits :). Good day gang.

One of my fav movies and even somewhat fitting to this thread as it has a lot to do with the benefits/experience of old astronauts vs young lions.

Well I really don't know why he is out there?. He definitely does not appear to take it as seriously as he used to.

Maybe he is racing to try and undo the incredibly bad sportsmanship image he created for himself, so he wants to get back in a competitive position so he can let people nicely through :D

In the end he is simply wasting the seat ... no matter what the result.

No one can say Michael has been outdriven by Nico thus far as that is just not the case. Michael made his dominance known the last 10 laps Malaysia and bt holding off Alonso until his tires fell off. Every other race Michael has had a broken car Either with the kers, drs, or both so making comparisons is just out of order.

Missed you all. Just back from Europe. I tossed an egg at the Fia building (no, but I should have)

    Welcome back!

Since you were in Europe, did you hear that Schumacher will star in Germany's Big Brother house this summer?

No, not Michael. And no, not Ralf. But Sebastian. Schumi III as they call him.

That's what the German news call him. He is a racer too, albeit not a successful one. :)
