Not really in love with the shape either, and agree that the front lights are fugly. Well in any case, it should be a monster when it comes out.

it's ok I'm definately going to pick one up if they release it in the US just because I'm a skyline fanboy but nothing will take the place of the R34 GTR in my heart

Obviously you know nothing about this monster. The Skyline R35 GTR will be released in 2007 and will have a whopping 450hp V6 twin turbo and is not the current G35.

As for the GTR, you're right, I don't know much since Nissan is know to have a strict "code of silence" known as Ommerda for their prototype projects. However, the little info I did get tells me that final HP for the R35 has not been finalized yet (except it's a 3.8 litre twin turbo); rumor has it that GTR may have as much as 500hp under the hood. The coolest thing about the car is not so much the powerful engine, but the much anticipated (yet secretive) next gen ATTESA all-wheel-drive system. I also heard that Bose (as in the Bose speakers) is a covert partner behind ATTESA's electro magnetic suspension/shock system.

Anyway, that's just my $.02... I hope that the car will be marketed under Nissan and not Infinity brand. What do you think Doozyj?

P.S. - the G35 comparison was a joke; since the silhouette of the two is almost identical. :)

Not that much of a joke... the current G35 was sold in Japan as a Nissan Skyline R35 for about 5 minutes. (Obviously, everyone knows that) I have a brochure on it somewhere that I picked up in Tokyo not too long ago. They pulled it because the car was too similar to the Fairlady Z, aka 350 Z, and was cannibalizing sales. At the time, there was no Infiniti (or Lexus, for that matter) in Japan. I think that's since changed, though.

Whatever. I'm not interested in placating a 1 poster who made a snarky comment.

I think they should brand it as a Nissan, for what it is. It won't be a luxury car, and the GTR is known for its racing heritage. I do think they should have a deal that GTR owners should be able to have their car serviced at the Infiniti dealerships though. For an estimated cost of the car that will go for around $70K, I think they owe it to the customer. If they don't Nissan isn't so bad.

Been trying to follow the development of this for a while. Been debating buying an R34 or R33 gtr spec-v for a couple months now. Not sure if I'd like the right hand drive or lack of full coverage on insurance.

Hagerty will insure an R34 in the US. You might not want to pay, but they'll write the coverage.

The R35 GTR has a fully redesigned chassis never used on any nissan before.

It is believed that The Skyline will be released under Infiniti in the US.

Will this car be considered an exotic? I just went to infinity/nissan today to give them my phone number and call me as soon as I can pre-order one

Looks too squared off to me. Overall shape isn't too far off, they just need to soften the edges a bit.

    Darrell.
