No no no,not the bloody shifter, the bloody thing that's lifting it.dik. ....and I'm fine using whatever tools cum to hand re the prawns.
Big day today. Front hubs came off quite easily, now I can send the brake shields off for cleaning and I’ll replace the wheel bearings. Ian then came over and proceeded to twist my stuck nut. What a head**** and a half. Turns out it was basically corroded and stuck. Luckily Ian came well prepared with a dremel and eventually the ****ing thing came off. As you can see, I was incredibly grateful and gave him a reach around that will go down in 928 folklore Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's great Greg. Only problem is I reckon that photograph of Ian with "his hands full" so to speak, was from a previous time, not from today. NTTAWWT
I pulled the brake pads out of the calipers tonight and boxed the calipers to send out for rebuilding. I hadn’t actually taken a good look at them until now, I’m really surprised I had any braking action when I drove the car home Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting them back looking shiny and new when I return from hols
These guys in the link below, Ian’s recommendation. I’ll blame him if they **** it up Cleaned/blasted, seals +/- pistons then painted silver. I’m not 100% sure if the ‘79 model had a Porsche logo on the calipers. There are transfers I can add later if need be http://www.knightsoldschool.com.au Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They don't look that bad...remembering it's the bit behind the rubber that's most important. The rubbers aren't as roached as some iv'e seen that still work ok.
