The best , once every couple of years was what I use to due where as the Autoglym at least once a year , not as good but much easier to apply.

    Autoglym, ever use it ?

its a good product ,theyy also have cleaning product ,I get nervous with cleaning products on VM hides ,easy to strip colour or burn the light leathers colour .

If I remember I'll put a container/bottle in the Macan and you can test it on the Conti or the 575 on GG while where all drinking Brandy Alexanders with Klinks prawns ..

You know that if the leather is colour vacced, the colour should never come off regardless what of leather cleaning product you are using. As for 'burning' the light colours, well yes, I can imagine some leather cleaning products may do that.

true story - I once had a slight but noticeable scratch on the rear console next to rear seats in the Aston and I used bio oil (yes, the beauty product) a few times and the scratch literally disappeared. The Bio oil worked because the leather was VM hide and colour vacced ( interior was blue and the scratch was blue as the colour was impregnated throughout the hide)- I wouldn't say the scratch completely disappeared but it literally was invisible to the naked eye. I'd say it was 98% invisible.

Not that case with period VM hides you'll notice colour has left the seat and Autoglym cream if left on a old light hide will discolour the hide thus its so important to rub it in and clean of the balance.

My Corniche hides have never been painted a second time ,as per how they left Crewe, always have been applied hide food by the 3 owners and are soft , yet you will notice paint has left the hides .. .

    Shrug!

I guess its all in the experiences we have, so I can't dismiss yours.

All I know is that my car also used VM hides, were colour vacced, the rear seats used perhaps half a dozen times over 46,000km and yet the entire interior matched perfectly (front and rear seats had identical shades of blue). Having said that, I had similar (but much less evident) creasing on the seat bases.

Maybe there is colour transfer from the clothes of the driver and passenger to the lighter hues of leather?

This pag will explain to you the VM process up till mid 80s as a matter of interest the same process my mother's family Sherrin prepared the T.W.Shertin football for over 100 plus years ,a process now banned. You can see why the paint cracks its a 2 pack with 2 different types of process and why the leather cracks when idiots paint over the old leather , the only way to do it corrrect is as Bill M does , remove all the old paint, feed the hides than apply colour ,but even than it will never have the look of the old colour texture due to the process Connolly used .

When I had the BB512 VM hides that had been water base painted on the orginal paint (old car yard trick) the only way to repair those seats would have been to fully strip the colour and re colour ,
I wish Cam had of told me what he was going to do when he retrimmed the BB512 ,as he could have done that as the leather was soft or trimmed it in the current VM hides now available instead of the non Connolly leather he used , nothing worse than a person like myself with a keen knowledge of leather seeing a car retrimmed in incorrect hides....

You can pick a mile off non Connolly VM retrims , never will look as good , as the process of colouring is not the same .

If you ever see Carls 308GTB compare it to others ..

    My car was 2003

If you look at the pics attached, I have the leather samples Lamborghini provided in 1986.

Notice with the first pic the colour of the leather hide facings.

The second pic reveals the back of the leather hides. The colour has impregnated through out the hide (colour vacced process). So even if the leather is scratched, it retains the same colour as the unmarked leather.

same process that my Continential R had ,the top coat of colour still comes off .hence why dealers paint the seats ..#note my seats had not been repainted ..

The post 1985 odd process provides a better wear to the old way but lacks the old way of grain in the leather caused by the roller process .

Did you know the various VM hide colours all have a different smell..creams/sandstones a nutty smell the reds a cherry smell and so on ..

yep correct pre mid 80s the old way , so the back of the leather was the natural colour ..
