they looked new, but were incorrect (Pirelli P4000). I'll wear them out a bit and then put on some XWX's
Ian,I just put non R spec tyres on the Jag,was going to put 215/70/15 XWX's,but the Michelin man talked me out of them, said they are to hard on a light car like the E-type?
He was wrong. Standard fitment on glass 308s, GT4s, steel 308s...all relatively light...and made them drive wonderfully. Also on Daytonas, boxers, etc with the same result.
Perhaps, having said that he said they had reied them on E-types and they gave to harsh a ride, would have been to his interest to sell me the XWXs.
I have tried to keep it secret Greg, but I just cant sorry mate. Congrats on purchasing my 348. You will LOVE it. I didnt want to sell it, but its time to move on friends. Just need to do the belts mate, otherwise she is gorgeous. Enjoy in good health malaka! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes i do,as i know the cost of a XWX's overseas and its unit price here. Be more profit in a XWX then a $200 dollar bridgestone, plus he would have sold me the Michelin tubes which were double the price of the ones he fitted.
nah...you have no idea. he makes $100 per tyre on the bridgestone and $40 with the XWX. He talked you out of the better tyre so he could make more money, and you believed him cos you hate spending money.
XWX's work best on cars where the suspension was designed around the characteristics of the car. I suspect E-types were designed for Dunlops (and cross-plies at that) so I can well believe that XWX's may not work so well. Did they run Dunlop racing tyres for competition purposes in period?
I think it's either a 275GTB/4 or a 400A with a three speed GM automatic box with aftermarket F1 paddles.
one's a blue-chip, highly collectible, automotive legend. The other is just a glorified 275GTB with a torque-tube and less front end lift at speeds over 60km/h.
Yes,i suspect that the front torsion bar suspension could be the issue. Donnellen also said that the hard tyre wall was not ideal for my car/
I've just bought a 612 which I'm chopping up to make a 599GTO replica. Gunna bring it along to the next Daniel McClelland rallye.
Being a carbine rallye, I'm like to be shot on sight if I turn up looking like the christmas tree from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
