I have an order for a 296GTS in.

What’s your experience with communication between the dealer and you for the time between order/delivery?

With spec’d out 296s getting toward $500k with tax, I’m trying to do some mental money management and it is driving me crazy that I don’t know how long I will have before I’ll have to cut a check for the vehicle.

So far the dealer hasn’t exactly been good about providing a timeline, but I’m not sure
    …is that is the norm?

About how much notice will I have before delivery day? How much notice before a wire transfer is due?

A friend has just discovered his 296GTB is at stage 50 with no communication since finalizing spec & deposit fully six or more months ago - before that too it what quiet from first deposit to suddenly demanding spec against allocation - so lack of communication seems normal in answer to your question

I'm sure dealer will hassle you soon enough once your half a million bucks is due !

Depends greatly on the dealer. We ordered a Portofino M for my wife and it took just about 16 months. I didn't ping the dealer, but relied on the Ferrari App for major updates. We paid a single $10k deposit and no other money until the car was headed to the dealer:

    ordered 3/27/21 ($10k deposit)
    allocated 2/23/22 (e-mail from dealer)
    VIN 4/16/22 (MyFerrari App)
    first picture 6/1/22 (MyFerrari App)
    second picture 6/8/22 (MyFerrari App)
loaded on a boat 6/9/22 (e-mail from dealer)
    third picture 6/11/22 (MyFerrari App)
confirmed at Port of New Jersey, waiting for customs 8/20/22 (e-mail from dealer)
on a truck headed to San Diego 8/29/22, (e-mail from dealer with final invoice and wiring instructions)
arrived at dealer 9/7/22 (dealer prep, PPF)
    picked up 9/23/22
app switched from "waiting list" to "owned" 10 Oct 2022

If you are in the US it will be delivered through Port of New Jersey. Once it has cleared customs and been put on a truck, your dealer will get the invoice and send you wiring instructions.

    Congratulations on the 296GTS.

Thank you Rob! This is exactly the answer I was looking for! 6 months from allocation to wire payment would be easy to work around. I was sitting here wondering if 3 month T Bills would be too long, but your answer gives me confidence I should be okay. Thank you!
